Reduce depth of settings
« on: October 16, 2007, 04:34:24 pm »
Can something be done to reduce the number of clicks needed to get to some settings?

For example:  It takes 7 clicks to be able to change the transparency or emissiveness of an ellement, or 6 click plus a double click midway, to change the colour or scale of a light. These options are too deep and many will not find them.  The need of a double click partway through the process to change the scale of the lights is not obvious and will result in very poor renderings when a balance between exterior and interior lighing is concerned for those who do not find it.  (see also related post on light balancing).

I agree and support this suggestion for change.

Not only are things sometimes hard to find...but remembering which seven clicks a few days later is not fun...and a few extra clicks may not seem like much but it is time consuming and mentally disruptive causing more time loss.

I'd rather have larger, more grouped/subset windows (you have some that work well),  than multiple layers deep.

After a decade, Windows *still* bugs me because of inconsistencies like that...

I could change them in XP but dare not, because I use several PCs and must keep their interface *consistently* inconsistent...
