Interior/exterior light balancing
« on: October 16, 2007, 04:51:39 pm »
Can we have an option to 'Balance interior and exterior lights' ('dull the sun' option)?

There is a huge discrepancy between the brightness of the sun and the interior lights and there obviously is in real life but in the virtual world of 3D should this be so great?  For example: It appears that to balance the sun outside with a 100W light inside, I have to reduce the light scale (many will not find that option!) to its minimum of 5 (=5W in this case).  The alternative is to change the time of the day (but this drastically affects shadows) or reduce the overall brightness and increase the interior lights.

Something needs to be done in this area as it is just too time consuming to get the balance right as it is now. The results are worth the effort (see the "Excellent renders are possible..." post but under Tips) but I have spent several full days on it and many users are not going to go to this trouble, resulting in their being disappointed with the rendering results.
