Here is a free measuring stick. You can use it to get accurate heights while in Elevation or Section views. Add the jpg of the dim style you need (imperial or metric) then use the following instructions to apply the image to a resized 'column'. You can move the column where you like in the plan and read the heights in Elevation / Section views.
Allan, it would be nice if you could post the example you made of the measuring stick in use.
Here are instructions on how to apply the jpg image to a column.
I’ll assume you can get it into the material list in Envisioneer, if not let me know.
ADD NEW
Once in materials list you go to Columns and in catalog on right, select a rectangular column and right click > add new.
SIZE COLUMN
Then resize the Column by entering dy1 and dx1 (imperial 6"x6" or metric 150 x 150 mm )
Now select the option that says ‘Define Column Height’ and change it to ‘User Defined’ (should see drop down option when clicking ‘By Location’.
Set the height to either 9' or 2500mm or 3200 mm, depending on which image jpg you have added to your materials list.
ASSIGN MATERIAL
The go to ‘Appearance’ tab and select 3D Structure option on left and then ‘Select’ under ‘Material’ on right. This will take you to your material choice option. Locate the jpg from the website of the scaled image you are using, and click OK. You should now be back in the ‘Appearance’ tab.
MAP MATERIAL
Under ‘Materials’ option, this time select ‘Mapping’ and in the ‘pop up’ select ‘Override tile size’, Here is where you enter the width and height that you made the column to which should be something like ‘125mm x 2500mm’ (or 125mm x 3200mm or 5” x 9’(ft))
Note : for some reason entering the exact width of the image doesn’t work, you must reduce it size a tad. Try 125mm for mapping metric image width and 5” for imperial. This is for the jpg mapping width only the column itself stays at 150mm or 6”.
ALIGN IMAGE
You may now have to use the arrows under mapping to shift the image as the numbers are not centered. Try hitting left arrow 3 or 4 times. If shifted too much or too little, use the arrows to center left right as needed.
RENAME
Make sure before closing out of property settings for this new Measuring Stick Column that you RENAME IT>
