Hi Doug,

As you said, they seem to be good quality models.  Did you manage to open any in TFP?  All the ones I tried were .rar (?) or zipped .max files.  Did you find a way to identify 3DS? - it says they are available.  TurboCAD could not open them either.

I don't have a use right now so I saved a URL link and did not try to download any files.

If you have one you like point me to it and I'll try...tho I don't have a way to open .max files....I can open most 3D formats and convert many.

There may be a free converter (maybe, there are several expensive ones)....but I have several 3D programs and sometimes they can open odd files.

.rar (you probably know this but others may not) is a compressed format like a .zip and many .zip opening programs will open a .rar or Mac format such as .sit (once opened, most .sit files work OK on a PC)(use "stuffit" prog to open .sit files)

Also search around the site as there are many pages of stuff besides furniture

EDIT

I did a little searching and found some peoiple use free prog "gmax" or "blender" to open .max files tho not always successful.

Hi Allan And Doug.

I think the only program how can convert max 3DS is Autodesk 3Ds MAX and that program cost $3.495, nothing for my wallet but ther is a 30 days trial verion 700Mb download.

I fun this anserv in a other foroum: 3ds .max is a proprietary format ,and ther is no converters

but I fund some in 3DS-format what shuld work Wood Door Indoor Arch is on of them

Thanks Robert and Doug,

Since Autodesk is so cheap maybe I will get two - one for my wife to play with too!!
The price of TFP fits my pocket better - even if it does not open .max files!

It is possible the trial version will not export, as often they don't.  The trial of Envisioneer 6 will not export anything.
I had a thorough look through the site and decided there wasn't anything I really needed at the moment or could not create anyway.

Allan

It, is full working trial I have test the exportfunction and it works very well with the max files on the site, only to bad ther isn't any free converter max - 3ds. The only problem I have is to get correct scale

so I will look at site whit free max-files in the trialperiod so I can convert them.

Hi all!

Unfortunately for us, there is not a free .max converter. Autodesk (the manufacturers) don't allow this. However, it is possible to download the trial version of 3D MAX 2010 for 30 days and yes, it is fully functional and yes, it converts 3D max files to other formats!!!  Grin

Perhaps we can organize a users' pool to convert and share a number of objects?

By the way, this is my favorite website to find these "nice stylish objects"
http://www.e-interiors.net/
It is an interior design website, so select the type of object (say Furniture) and filter as 3D CAD available (left pane)

Enjoy!  Grin
