For certain catalog models and nearly all imported models (such as .3ds), even if the model imported has been smoothed or uses a high poly count to get smoother surfaces.....

TFP renders reflections poorly with a faceted rough surface when it should be glass/mirror smooth.

Most 3D program have an optional choice to "smooth" (not make more facets) using a method such as Catmull-Clark, Doo-Sabin, Bezier, etc. and have adjustable levels of tension...some without changing the number of vertexes/points/lines/surfaces....just smooth angles at line junctions of faces....so a faceted parabola reflects as if it were a very smooth surface not a collection of small angled faces.

Thus, the recommendation, so we can have smooth reflections off of bowls, sinks, toilets, fixtures, any curved surface, is to add an optional "smoothing" choice for any faceted object whether in the catalog from IMSI or imported as a model object.  Even a simple choice of "on" or "off" is probably sufficient.
