Bedroom Rendering w/ Sun
« on: May 13, 2010, 05:54:59 am »
I'm looking forward to seeing some nice interior rendering with Sun in the new soon to be released version 15.

Here's a bedroom from the beta version. I'm updating the training videos for IMSI Design, so I had to test some things. Second image '1q glow' was edited in Paint.net adding 'Glow' after affect.

Hi Jack,

I agree with Robert, they look good.

Looks like I may have to wait for your videos though to get the secrets on sun/interior light balance. I am still having to boost lights dramatically and still get little effect from them, especially with multiple lights, as the first image shows. With daylight on I have increased all the lights from 40W to 1000W and the only perceptible light is in the kitchen (upper right). For my usual projects (with 50 plus fluros) I am not worried about the light from the lights so much as that the lights appearing to be lit. It seems the emmissive factor gets turned off too.

The effect with the sun is much better but I would still like to see the lights look as though they are on.

I think it would be nice to trun the shine on that floor, down a bit.  Ice and skating come to mind when I look at that scene.  No disrespect intended Allan, known you a while now since the old fp days and your integrity is a known factor as far as I am concerned.

Hi Mike,

I agree. This particular design was done for someone who was going to remodel their appartment.  They wanted to see it with super shine floors, so that is what they got.  I left it that way as it does show how well the Specular setting works in TFP.

It was actually done up in a number of ways - another example with carpet below.

Personally I don't actually like timber floors. In fact we have just put an offer in on a new house that has timber floors and the developer was horrified when I said we would be removing them and putting in carpet. Too noisy, hard and too much work (according to my wife).  Met a chap the other day who now regretted putting in shiny timber floors in his new home too. He had young kids and no money yet to do any landscaping, so has just sand around the house - his floors have been sandpapered by the kids running in and out! Removed the gloss on their new home literally!
