My 2 cents on TFP Home & Landscape Pro 15
« on: June 09, 2010, 07:44:05 am »
Hi, Everyone!  Haven't been around for awhile, just been very busy with things lately.  Good news:  I've finally been able to save up enough money to buy me a fantastic new laptop to replace my Acer that died some time ago. I LOVE it, it's a powerful Samsung R50 with some very nice perks, and strong enough to render my TFP projects! (My Acer couldn't render).  I've also been able to save up a little extra $ to purchase the TFP Home & Landscape Pro 15! I like it a lot, I was very pleased to know that I could still work on my projects I started on TFP Home & Interior 12 (or was it 14?), as long as I converted the project files to where I can still be able to work on them in future H & LP upgrades! :-)  I like the new perks the program has, but I'll have to figure out what this "scheduling" feature is, tho'.  Altho' I lost half my textures while transferring files from my very corrupted and fried Acer to my son's computer--including the encyclopedia--I was able to find most of them again on the internet and reload them into the TFP H & LP 15 catalog. Adding 3D models from Google Sketchup Warehouse is still very easy to do! I'm happy that I can do landscaping now and have outside lights and furniture! (That's not on the Home & Interior versions). I've done a couple simple and quick test renders, just to test the program and my laptop's graphic card, processor, etc, and that comes out fine! That's all I have to say about it.... it's just a very easy and enjoyable program to work with, and I'm VERY happy with it!   :D

Hi Judy,

That's great to hear!

It's feels good when you get a new computer and find it works so much better!! You won't know yourself with the ability now to do landscaping and render images properly.

Have fun!!

Hi, Allan!

Oh, I'm having fun already! I'm getting my rooms to where I really want them, finally. Almost every room in my "mansion" has a "theme" of some kind to it: The living room-Southwestern. My master bedroom-Native American. The kitchen-European. The formal dining room-Oriental/Asian. Another master bedroom is being done in Goth (black walls and black lights and interesting wall art will be the main focal point), and another will be done in Medieval with a touch of the Court Jester look. I have so many options! My mansion is only halfway done, I work on it in-between living my life and piddling with my other virtual homes. I'm turning into a TFP addict! :-)

:D That's great to hear Judy.
On tip from me, I don't know if Allan already try it and use it in "Allan's woodwork shop"  :D!

I fund out that import cad files is very easy, you can take a 2d dwg file and make it 3d in TFP by trace it.

I use to do that chipboard 12, 16 and 25 mm thickness but that is only you image how limit you, as Allan usually say then it come to special work in TFP.

I have ad wood works-group To follow Elements by use "Element Manager"; Floors: Walls: Surface all 3: Ceilings and Members. The you all the other elements in layout to play around with.

To trace the dwg you had to use different tools in TFP, for flat surface you can use Floor or Ceilings (Picking points) for standing structures you can  use all the layout tools and convert to walls, or retaining walls, I think you can find use for the other tools also but I have not try all yet but Surface is a useful tool to do lending plans.

I have a fave then it come to 2d dwg and office and school project that is on frome US http://www.ki.com/ they also som 3d dwg
but this you have to export to dxf-file if you will use them in TFP. To use 2d object and convert them to 3d is like play with LEGO very fun.

Hi Robert,

Thanks for raising the DWG file.  It is something I don't think I have mentioned before as being new in V15. Previoulsy you could only import 2D DXF but now DWG is also possible and some standard DWG files are supplied, closup details (footings etc), symbols (Wheelchair Accesss etc) and Title Blocks - useful as borders for making up a set of plans and could be used in conjuction with the PDF in this post: http://forums.turbofloorplan.com/index.php/topic,877.0.html.

We now also have the door/window/room schedules of course, so it looks like we will be getting full construction drawing capabilities the way things are going!!!  (V16... V17... ??)

Hi Judy,

I hope we are going to see some renders of the different room styles in your 'Mansion' when you are ready!  Sounds like an interesting and varied project! Is it reflecting your existing house, or are you allowing your imagination to run riot in virtual reality??

Good to hear you are having fun - as we do!

Hi, Everyone!  ,,,,,,,,,,,,   but I'll have to figure out what this "scheduling" feature is, tho'.     :D

It is a schedule, nothing related to time or date or "when"...but rather simply means it creates a convenient automatic list of items such as doors and windows...as a handy tool to count, locate and use as a checklist for costs and ordering prefab items.
