There is a simple way to measuring different height, for example a book shell, this measuring-tool have you already in the catalog.

1: Open the properties for the element you will measure.
2: Select the Behavior tab, now have you open this great tool, only remember the original-setting for the element so you can set it back after you have measuring the element.
3: Look at the 3D image so can you see some green line, this is coordinate system-line for X,Y and Z, you can move this forward and back with help of the sliders to the left "Insert Point".
4: Say that you will put some books in the book-shell, rotate the image so you get a good angle to see the green lines.
5: Slide the Z Axis to the top of the shell the you will put your books, copy the result you get
6: Reset sliders to the original settings
7: Open properties for the books and past your result in Distance above current location or terrain.
8: Turn of Collision and put your books in the shell.

Above will work with all elements you put on top of an other element.
If you do this in the drawing it will only change the catalog for that project not the default catalog, but if you do it in the default catalog the changes will be saved.

Hi Robert,

Thanks for passing that on!

I have never thought of doing it that way but it works well.  Ideal for Bookshelves and similar things.
