Feature comparisson between Deluxe and Pro
« on: July 25, 2010, 02:05:56 am »
I am just starting to evaluate TFP 3D, got the Deluxe V15 15 day Preview.

It looks like a very comprehensive product - congrats!

What are the differences between the Pro and the Deluxe version?

Particularly I am looking for:
- on printed output include such things like a header (name of project etc), the scale which is used for printing etc.
- how to adjust the overall drawing "space" - the green frame shown on the window.

The use will just be for small extension projects, e.g. add a shed with wood oven and a cellar below and similar.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum!

Yes TFP is very comprehensive program.  I have used it amlost daily since V3 and it still amazes me what it will do.

If you are planning to do what you describe I would definitely use the Pro version not Deluxe, as many things are limited in Deluxe (simple example Deluxe has 2,000 plants for use in landscaping, Pro has 7,500!) You will run into many little things you cannot to because the setting is automatic rather than adjustable, so if you are planning serious work, then the Pro version is best.

Having said that neither verion is really optimised for printing plans.  Pro will draw the plans in extreme detail but really only uses it to create a 3D model of your project so you can create photrealistic images of how it will look to show your client visually. This is the purpose of the program (see the Gallery section of the forum).

Plan printing is NORMALLY limited to printing what you have on the screen, but, with a little ingenuity, great plans are possible and with the Layout tools you can add lines, curves, text etc and hence produce detailed plans.   See the PDF tutorial in this post: http://forums.turbofloorplan.com/index.php/topic,877.0.html to see if this is sufficient for your needs.

The tools in the program are VERY FLEXIBLE too, so you can create within the program almost anything if it does not exist already - see the PDF tutorial in this post: http://forums.turbofloorplan.com/index.php/topic,1130.0.html.

TFP's parent product is Envisioneer and it is optimised for printing technical construction plans but it comes at a price (something like 30 times the price!). If your business depends on extensive detailed plans ,then it is the way to go, if you can afford it, but if the extra effort in the above mentioned PDF is acceptable, then TFP (Pro) will do what you want, especially if it is limited to small extensions.

Allan,

Thanks for the feed back.

It would be nice to have a detailed feature comparison of the different TFP versions - it would help making the selection process a lot easier.

Will look into the links you provided and will give the Pro trial version a go.

Thanks again
Werner

Hi Werner,

This has been raised and the TFP product manager is looking into providing a comparison on the IMSI Design website.

In the meantime there is a limited one, covering the basics however,  on the Envisioeer Express website http://www.envisioneerexpress.com/turbo-compare.php. Envisioneer Express itself is essentailly only a viewer that can be used for clients to walk around your model for example.
