Pixelation in Rendering ?

    Does anyone know what causes this effect ?
    In the rendering, this room comes out nice enough, except for the ceiling .

Hi garystan,

First I must say it looks much better without the shiny bed!! It is looking good in fact and the wall image has some out well!!

There are few three things that come straight to mind that could cause the ceiling problem:

1)  Have you actually got two ceilings, one a slightly different colour?  If you clicked a ceiling in twice, it would not be obvious but if you then changed the colour/texture, it would only change one and because they are in the same space the two textures would fight each other giving this effect. Click the ceiling in 3D view and delete one. If you see the sky or roof then you only had one (undo obviously). If a ceiling is still there delete again, just to make sure you did not have three.

2)  Is there a second storey and the floor above is too low?  This would have the same effect, as the bottom side of the floor would fight with the bottom side of the ceiling. (To fix do one of the following: Select the ceiling and lower it a fraction, make the floor above a fraction thinner or fix the Building Locations so that floor thicknesses, wall heights, ceiling levels and floor levels add up correctly. If this is the cause of the problem the latter is the correct solution, so that you do not run into other Location height related problems later. (The quick TEST for this is to lower the ceiling)

3)  Do you have a textured ceiling (eg Stucco) and the texture scale is set far too big?  This would blow up the texture so that the tiny shades in the texture are magnified to gigantic size.  For example the Stucco default texture size is 305mm (1') but if you overide the tile size in the Texture Mapping box from 1,000 to 10,000 (or other very large figure) the texture image will blow up so big you would probably get the effect you have.

Hopefully one of those will sort out the problem for you.
