What do you like about TurboFloorplan?
« on: June 02, 2011, 11:12:54 am »
Hi all -

I'm working on a little project for which I need brief reviews from TurboFloorplan users such as yourselves. The reviews will be used on some IMSIdesign.com web pages that I'm working on. If anyone would be willing to help me with this, I would greatly appreciate it! I just need a few sentences (unless you want to write more) about what you like about the product and what you use it for. Feel free to post a response here, or email me at skorling@imsidesign.com!

Thanks a lot in advance!

Best regards,
Sofia

Hi Sofia,

Thanks for the opportunity to help. Don't know if this is the sort of thing you are looking for, but some of it may be useful.

What I like about TurboFloorPlan, is the simplicity and speed with which you can create a 3D model of almost any building, decorate it, furnish it, walk through it and produce photorealistic images that show you exactly how it will look.

You can model anything, from a garden shed to a city skyscraper. Simply click and drag to draw the walls, choose doors and windows and drop them into the walls. Choose a ceiling - one click inserts it, choose a roof and one click inserts that too, the floor is automatic and you are finished - what could be easier?

If you are designing a new home for yourself, it is easy to move walls around and 'walk through' it to see how it looks.   You can choose various items of furniture, click them into place, move them around, rotate them etc to see if your furniture will fit into your proposed new home.  You can even alter the furniture to match your own and cover it with your own fabric. You can also experiment with different colours and textures on everthing - using your own photos of building materials and fabrics to get the exact look that you want. It costs nothing to change the colours on a 3D model to see how it looks, but costs a fortune if you experiment on a real house! TurboFloorPlan helps you decide the layout and decor before you build or decorate!

Does your garden need a makeover? TurboFloorPlan will do that too, with 7,500 plants to choose from and a vast array of garden features and landscape items to choose from. You can even use a photo of your own home and create a new garden in front of it to see how it looks, then move the time on a few years and see what happens when the plants and trees grow up!

How do I use TurboFloorPlan? Apart from sometimes producing buildings just for fun (or to answer questions on the TFP forum), I create models of proposed churches and Assembly Halls, producing photorealistic images to show the decor in several different colours and styles. The local building committee then decide which one to use.  TurboFloorPlan makes their decision easy, as they can see exactly how it will look.

I hope some of that helps.

TurboFloorplan is a well rounded, easy to use 2D / 3D program that is versitale, customizable and communicates well with TurboCAD. It provides 2D representation of anything from a basic home  to a fantasy project and also provides a variety of 3D viewing and display options.

Speed, accuracy, customization are available for the Design Phase of a project.
Takeoffs, Shedules, Quantities, BIM, Plans, Elevations, Sections , Sites, Landscaping are all available for the Construction Phase of a project.

The only product out there, in it's league, that is better than TurboFloorplan is the next version!

An excellent 3D architectural program that has a high value (i.e. low cost and high performance), is reasonably easy to use and produces good results with a low amount of effort. Works well with other programs (3D and other). Is reasonably fast to render and operate. Has a good user forum but company does not provide any free support except for installation issues. Has a few small bugs but no worse than most any other software. Newer versions/updates/revisions available and seems to have a good business outlook...i.e will probably be around in the future.  Has little competition at same price point. Has a "bigger brother" for high end work if one needs to "move up" for "production" work.

Hi Sofia, as a total amateur then it come to CAD and special 3D I find  TFP worth every penny, special in combination with this forum. The program it self is rather straightforward, if you take your time to read the manual most of your question will be answered there, the tricky question you need the forum.
In other words, TFP has a comprehensive built-in help, but when this is not enough, you can always get help from the forum.

I am an Architect / Designer and I can't think or design just using 2D drawings!!
TurboFloorplan provides immediate 3D visualization of a floorplan, or interior design ideas or outdoor living.
In addition, I can check the project's interferences before the real construction begins, showing the results and options in real time 3D.

It is, indeed, a powerful tool for a small price
