Title Block - URGENT
« on: November 09, 2011, 05:56:10 am »
I just "upgraded" from TFP 14 Pro to TFP 16 Pro.  Problem is, when I access the View Manager icon on TFP 16, I am unable to locate all of the built-in Title Block features and editing tools that were available on TFP 14.   :-\   I considered this to be an invaluable feature of TFP 14 Pro.  Please help!!

I am unable to locate all of the built-in Title Block features and editing tools that were available on TFP 14.
Just curious - what ere the editing tools to which you refer? All the normal tools are still there in the same place as before.   Allan

Hi Allan,

With TFP 14 Pro, when I accessed "view manager", a similar box (as in TFP 16) popped up with "Views" as the heading and "Default Group" beneath, but below "Default Group" were the options of Sheet 1, Sheet 2, Sheet 3, Sheet 4.   When selecting those, I could name them (1st level, 2nd level, Front elevation, etc), then import those images into the TFP architectural draft page, with the built-in title block which I could edit.  I could insert multiple images onto one page (Front and Back Elevation, Side elevations) Now, with the TFP 16, when I click on the "view manager" icon, I just get a pop up that says "views" and "default group", but with no apparent access to the various sheets nor the built-in title block that can be edited.

Is there a way I can attach a pdf so that you can see what I'm referring to?

Pat, I went through the process that you suggested ....  not nearly the same as TFP 14 Pro.  As I responded to Allan, if there is a way that I can attach a pdf I can show you what I was referring to.  thx, vick

.... oh, and although I'm listed as a "newbie", I've been using TFP since 1999.... Been a while since I've had a problem for the forum....

Hi Vick,

The Sheet Views and related title blocks you refer to were added by mistake to the program. Those are advanced features available only in the parent company Cadsofts Envisioneer products and now the new Personal Architect release (3 sheets max).

This mistake was corrected after you recieved your v14 and is not available in TFPlan.

You can either print from Model View with difficulty getting things to scale OR import dxf files to either TurboCad Pro or Deluxe.

Hi Vick,

the options of Sheet 1, Sheet 2, Sheet 3, Sheet 4.quote]
When you mentioned this I realised that you had the very first release of V14, without the patch that was released a few days later, and as Jack has explained the functionality was not supposed to be there (see this post http://forums.turbofloorplan.com/index.php/topic,852.0.html for more details and another possible printing method in addition to the ones Jack suggested.

Is there a way I can attach a pdf so that you can see what I'm referring to?
To add a PDF or image to your post, just click the "Additional Options..." link just beneath and to the left of the text entry box when you are replying to a post.

The description "newbie" is just an automatic 'title' that the forum gives depending on the number of time you have commented on the forum. It is good to hear that you have been able to master things without needing too much help!

Sorry that on this ossacion it is not good news for you.

Wow.  How unfortunate. I have been so spoiled by this feature -- and I had thought that it had become standard!  Is there a IMSI software program that would allow the ease of TFP but also have the title block, editing, etc?  To be honest, I wouldn't have purchased TFP 16 if I had realized the feature wasn't there.  I would just continue using TFP 14, but it has developed a glitch -- would reinstall but when it was sent to me by IMSI, hot off the press, it came in non-descript packaging ( paper sleeve) and I have yet to locate it after moving my office.

Would the new Personal Architect, mentioned by Jack, have these features and also allow me to use the files I've generated with TFP 14 and TFP 16?  I have three new plans that I developed on TFP 16, not realising that when I got to the end of the design phase I wouldn't be able to print them as with TFP 14. Please advise -- I'm attaching a site map that I developed using TFP 14.  I would like to have software that can do the same, in addition to multiple images on one sheet (such as side elevations and roof).  Minimum 3 sheets is no problem -- with TFP 14 I just saved the file as another version and generated additional sheets, if necessary.

While I'm on the forum.....one of the main reasons I purchased TFP 16 was because of advertising which indicated that it had a feature that would easily make tapered columns.  I do a lot of craftsman style design, so I thought this could be useful.  Up to this point I have been making tapered columns out of 3 wall sections. Have yet to locate the function which makes it easier. What's the trick?

Uh, oh...  I just remembered that I recently advised several colleagues to purchase TFP because of the ease of doing title blocks....     (Does anyone know where I can get a couple of original copies of TFP14?  ;-)

Thanks,  vick

Hi Vick,

I can understand your position and it is logical that you would expect V16 to do what V14 did.  You did not mention the nature of your V14 glitch. Unfortunately because of the accidental release of code that enabled some of the Envisioneer features, it meant there were some potential glitches too, as not everything was enabled. You may have come accross one of those.

It is doubtful you would find any copies of V14 with these capabilities as they were removed immediately the issue was discovered.  You may find some on eBay for example, but more than likely they would be later versions without the worksheet functionality.

Personal Architect is only new so presumably is compatible with V16 but I can't confirm that (Jack may know) - it may only be compatible with V15 depending on which was released first. It should handle V14 files however.

V16 will certainly do the site map as per your PDF. It will do that automatically from your plan and you can add as much as you like using the Layout toolbar. This toolbar enables you to draw almost anything. Basically the problem with TFP is that it does not allow you to display multiple elevations etc on one sceen, so that you can print them on one piece of paper - unless you export them individually as a DXF files and re-import them again into a new project.  You can then lay out as many elevations/ plans etc as you want onto one page. The PDF in my previous post was created especially for those wanting to do this without having to use other programs. It is based on V14 but everything in it applies to v16 also.

Tapered columns are very customisable. It is just one of the Properties in Columns (see image)

Thanks, Allan, on all accounts.  I'll check out the options.

The glitch w/TFP 14 is that all of the icons on all of the tool bars have gone blank, and don't respond if I scroll over them.  I can open files and view them 2D & 3D, do walk arounds, access view manager, etc., but none of the upper tool bar icons are accessible. Who knows....

Hi Vick,

Is the Catalogue populated? Just make sure it has not lost the connection to the catalogue (File / Catalogues - Open Catalogue).

Hi Vick,

You should see two catalogues, Metric and Imperial. Just select the one you would normally use.

(I got your email - will answer your other questions in the email shortly)

Hi Allan,

Nothing happened when I selected the file.  When I accessed the programs' file location, everything seemed to be intact when comparing to TFP 16 program files, with the exceptions of two folders which were present in TFP 16 but absent in TFP 14: WUNPACLN.dll (108 KB) and Vera (65 KB).  I have no idea of the significance of these folders -- may just be additional features of TFP 16. Would be great if this were solved by a click of the mouse...

thx,  vick

Hi Vick,  If the catalogue is connected properly youe should have walls, doors, windows etc in the catalogue tree. That is all that would change - it would be empty otherwise and the icons on the toolbars would be greyed out. Can you do a screen print and attach it to ypur reply? May pick up something from that. It is after 1am here so I will look at it tomorrow .      Allan
