Perhaps the Moderator should move the "PXF conversion" posts to a new thread, so we can use them as future reference

Robin,

you installed the PFX converter in what Punch version?

Hi,
The attachment was a PDF output from a Punch file. I would like to be able to transfer it from Punch to TFP for future use. I was, however, only trying to transfer a very simple plan (four walls and a roof) to see if it would work. I was using Punch Home Design Architectural Studio 3000. I also have an earlier copy of Punch Professional Home Design Suite if that would be more likely to work.
Thanks for your help.
Robin

Hi Pat, Robin and others,

I have split this topic away from this one http://forums.turbofloorplan.com/index.php/topic,1489.0.html as suggested. It will no doubt come up again so will be easier for others to find later.

Hope it has not caused confusion!

Allan,

Thank you for splitting the post, so this post remains for future reference and help other TFP users trying to use the PXF converter

Hi,

Robin

AS 3000 had 3 flavours (versions)  :D V7, V10 and V12 and Punch Professional had at least 5 or 6 versions. Again, you installed the PFX converter in what Punch version? the file you sent was developed in what version? (to see the version go to Help --> About) Also, can you inform your OS?

The 3000 is V7.0.0 on a Windows 7 PC. I don't have the PHD Suite loaded at the moment and it possible wont work on the win7 PC as the documentation only mentions XP. The files that I wanted to convert were created in PHD Suite but do open, with a little manipulation, in 3000. The simple four walls and a roof plan was created in 3000 V7.0.0.0.
Hope that helps?
Regards
Robin

Hi Robin,

This is what I imagined. V7 (as well as the V8) versions (and its tools) don't install correctly in Win 7, so this is the reason of the problem

Pat,
OK thanks. When I have chance I'll try installing it on an XP PC and see what happens.

Robin,

No problem.
The Windows 7 Pro version provides a free downgrade to XP. Or, if you prefer, you can use Virtual Box https://www.virtualbox.org/

Win7 Pro allows for a free Microsoft "virtual XP pro" download/install from MS......I have it in my PC setup and use it for several old XP and earlier s/w programs/applets ....works exceedingly well/easy/no hiccups as yet.

(an example is "Painter X"....will not install/run in win7 per Corel)

And it is integrated well....meaning I can run win7 and xp (both pro) at same time and the XP mode sees all the win7 HD as well as it's own so moving between them is easy.  Even old XP apps operate OK on the win7 file structure (for example "treeprint).

Part of the reason for using XPmode is to also run old 32bit h/w that has no win7 compatible drivers (a printer and a scanner)....they work in win7 but not with all s/w and not with full capabilities.....but are full service in XPmode.

Hi,
I tried exporting on an XP machine with the same result! Seems to be more trouble than it's worth - probably easier to just keep a copy of Punch in case I need to update the old files.
Thanks for your help .

Probably because AS 3000 V7 is a rather old version

Anyway, I think that you will get better results starting from scratch in TFP, and keeping the old plan as reference
