"Global" (?) properties definition instead of individual
« on: November 22, 2007, 11:34:31 pm »
Is there a way to establish the appearance of items while they're still in the catalog?  If so, I could define the appearance of my walls or my kitchen cabs before I place them, and then later, when I edit them or replace them with others, the appearance would stay the same.  Currently, I'm selecting all the ones I can see in the 3D view, or 2D, and defining them at one time, but if I change anything, it goes back to the default appearance.  I haven't been there yet, but I'm thinking I may have trouble when I get to cost estimating too.

Any suggestions??.....Thanks.

Dave

Dave,

You can change the appearance etc in the catalog.  Just right click the element before you insert it and Edit the properties (or you can Add a new one and change the properties in that instead). When you close, it will ask if you want to keep those changes and if you say yes then the properties of that object in the catalog will be the same next time you open it.  If you 'Replace' the element with another it will take on the properties that the replacing element has in the catalog, so you would have the change the properties of the one you want to replace it with first, then replace it.

You can select multiple objects and replace them all at once with the new one with its reset properties.

Hope you could follow that!
