How to make a flat roof
« on: January 22, 2008, 08:51:54 am »
Is there a way to have a flat roof ? I could not get to make a flat roof because the smallest slope that can be entered is 3 degrees.
I just upgraded from 3D Home Architect 6 to TurboFloorPlan and this has not changed.
Thanks for any help.

Pierre.

Hi Peire,

Welcome to TFP.

To make the roof flat select an edge - the arrow for that edge will be green. Now click all other red arrows so they are all green. Right click Properties and change the hip to gable.
This makes all sides vertical and hence the roof is flat.

I have been trying to get a flat roof as well but the command fails & cancels when I use this approach. :-\

Yes I get the same problem - I thought I had done that in TFP V12 but mayby I am thinking of Floorplan V11.  Looks like totally flat is not possible. Alternative, set 3 sides to gable (as previously explained) and the 4th to 1 degree.  This certainly looks flat even if it technically isn't.  If you want it totally flat then you could use another object instead but this seems uncessarily messy when the 1 degree incline will not show.

That works like a champ. I set the slope to .25 and it looks flat enough to play billiards on.

why not simply place another floor on top and apply a roof texture?
