3D manipulation controls
« on: February 16, 2009, 06:43:49 pm »
Hi,

So far, I like this program, for its price it seems to be very powerful.  However, there is one issue that bothers me - the absence of 'sticky' 3D movement control.  If I want to slide the drawing in one direction, I select the slide control and click and drag the drawing.  Fine.  But if I didn't quite get it to where I wanted it, I have to select the slide control again!  It gets worse for the flying and rotation controls.  Please, Please, Please add a 'sticky' control option.  The control should remain in the selected mode until another control button is pressed.

Thanks,

Lee Mulcahy

Sounds practical to me - it is a pain continually having to re-select the control for small movements.  This should apply to the Modify Viewpoint in the render results screen also.  The Modify Viewpoint also needs to have some way to maintain, or return, to a preset camera height and target, as it is impossible to control this with the 3D controls.

I see rumors of an impending new version.  Perhaps they have anticipated the need for sticky controls ;D

Hi Lee,

The previous update followed an update to Envisioneer (parent product). Now because Env 5 has been announced we are con jumping to conclusions! I guess we will have to wait and see!

I dont think there is much doubt a new version is around the corner - the big question is WHEN?!. Unfortunately there can be a long time between when software goes into test mode and when it reaches the market.

I hate waiting for things!! >:( No alternative I am afraid.
