Radiosity started to quit before completing all steps
« on: October 11, 2007, 07:09:32 pm »
I'm working on my own Kitchen remodel.  Trying to get a realistic rendering of how it will look when completed.  But I hit a problem (bug?).  I seemed to be getting a good render with just one overhead light and daylight turned off, so I decided to put in all the undercounter lights and one over the sink.  After doing so Radiosity stopped rendering at 84 of 1500 steps (#5 setting).  So the view is now too dark since it didn't complete.  I tried to take out the offending lights and I still have the problem.  Anyone else having this problem?  Any Idea's what causing it and what the solution is?

Mike,

Usual first question - Is Hardware Acelleration on? My radiosity crashes if it is?

Hi Allan,

I had unchecked the box.  But since I'm running it in Vmware, Hardware Acceleration wouldn't enable anyway.  So no it shouldn't be the cause.

It has happened once for me but repeatable if I reset and re-rendered.

But when I closed the render window, then opened it again, next renders rendered OK thru to end.

Has not happened again.

Some quirk but infrequent for me.

Rendering is not truly exact....every render reset render is never exactly the same....have no idea why as computers normally repeat everything exactly if user changes nothing....but apparently this program adjusts itself at times.
