Camera info at a glance
« on: October 12, 2007, 05:38:53 am »
I think it would be nice to have a little more info about camera location. Let's say you have 6 cameras at different positions and heights. When you are looking at them in 2d mode there is no indication of the name or what height they are at. I know you can get the name from the drop down box, but, it would be more convenient to see at a glance which camera is which and the height.

I thought I would bring this back up since I thought it was important. Does anyone have a solution for this?
I think at least a name on the camera would help.

My "solution" is to turn off the cameras (hidden) in 2D except when I am looking to see or move them...otherwise they clutter up the floorplan because I use many cameras kept in "fixed" positions so I can return to the file and make images to compare side by side with different colors and materials

A possible help would be to make the 2D line color for a camera different if it overlapped some other object or another camera.

Yes, I find getting the camera info a bit clumsy because of the extra step to select a 3D camera even tho already in a 3D view.... would be better if the camera dialog window could remain open like a toolbar set to normal or even a tab....AND have the cameras all in a list in the window with the active one highlighted or with a radio button.....

That would be my suggestion...because there must be an easier GUI method.

And as you suggest....each camera in 2D view could have the name in small letters or at least a number....then as you put your cursor hovered over it a balloon tip would show (like it does for inserted objects to aid in selection which is a plus) that could list the key camera settings.

Actually adding a screen ruler (x and y) like most all other 2D graphics programs would also show the center location for every object as x,y and be able to position objects using this method which would be a helpful addition to the easy drag 'n drop and snap(s).
