easier camera positioning
« on: October 12, 2007, 09:08:34 am »
Suggest you provide a "link" icon/on/off button in camera properties window that when "off" camera operates as it does now

but when "on" (depressed button with icon of a chain link); the camera height and target height change together ("elevate" either one by its arrows or by typing in a height change...and the other changes by the same amount in the same direction).....and...

when you grab the camera or target to change its position in the 2D window; both move at the same time....thus you may need to add a rotation handle to also be able to rotate both together as if they were grouped.

Why? to make a user option to adjust camera much easier (like FP11) yet still retain the TFP12 abilities  (or just go back to the FP11 style which was much easier to use...faster and more intuitive in the 3D views   (tho TFP12 is better in the 2D adjustment view....but NOT in height adjustments)

I agree - the new features of moving around are excellent but this new camera arrangement is much slower to set a viewpoint that is straight ahead at eye height.

Can we also have the 'camera in the plan' control method (even the current one) in the 'redered view' dialog when you select 'modify viewpoint'.  To take new images around the model after the inital render there is no way to move around and still keep the camera at eye height - at least I have not found a way to do it.  While the move methods are excellect and this 're-raytrace' is a wonderful feature, precise camera height/angle is impossible.

Further to this one:

Can we also have the custom preset camera positions in the Modify Viewpoint mode also? We can set them in the model and want to render from these points but they are lost when in Modify Viewpoint where we need them most. It is not possible to get back to the same position without going back to the model and rendering again (in my case I have to restart the program each time also otherwise the rendering is washed out.

Also - In the render preview window can the image area be set so that it displays the whole of the image?  Although small, for memory reasons presumably, the two sides are cropped.
