3DS does transfer materials but doesn't 'organize' layers like dxf. It is much easier to work on the model when you can turn off / on specific layers to adjust things. Because TCAD uses a completely different method of applying materials, I don't think they would transfer well. But it would be nice to at least have the jpgs 'assigned' to the objects. As it is now all I get are generic 'colors' which aren't consistant. For instance, glass in windows may be all assigned the same in TFPLAN but come in TCAD as mat79, mat80, mat92 even though they are all the same.
The hardest thing to do is assign glass and assign inside outside of walls. So I can turn off everything except Windows / Door , create a new layer and transfer all the glass (one at a time) to that layer. Then I can change all the glass at once. Same with walls.
There is no such thing as paint brush, so all must be done 'by hand'.
