keep selected object(s) when switch views
« on: October 13, 2007, 12:02:03 pm »
In FP10 and FP11 if you selected an object in a 2D view and then switched to 3D view it was still selected...and vice versa from 3D to 2D

a very nice feature when things are hard to select in a busy view

But TFP12 does neither.

Recommend IMSI Design adds that capability into next release

I aslo found that feature of previous versions very useful - woud be great if it could be included in the future.

This is an Envisioneer etc item and as the base code is pretty much set in stone do not see any change occuring.  The Envisioneer guys seem quite happy and I have to admit that the correct method of just selecting the last selected object grow on you with practise.

you can use view manager and create one or more  new views. then tile those views or switch views under the window pulldown menu. having one in 2d and one in 3d.
I will pass request onto cadsoft as well, but this may be a good alternative.

Thanks,
Dave

While playing with the program last night, I figured out that the "Select Previous" command works across views.  This means if I select the objects in 2D like the OP said, I can then switch to the 3D view and click on "Select Previous" command and my selection is back.
