I wanted to see what the shape of the cone of the light makes when attempting to create a new light globe and found this freeware application - IESviewer.

It can be downloaded from http://www.photometricviewer.com/

Allows you to load all the .ies files that TFP provide into a renderer. Gives you this type of view.

Thanks for sharing that with us - looks excellent.
Easier than loading into TFP and rendering to see what it does.

I have that one and another one (on other PC) as well as a source of many free .ies files from a lighting co.

Have had it for a few years and after initial investigating, did not find much use for it.

But if others want more info I'll dig it up.

Seems like it was GE or some other large light co.

I also saw a video a few days ago by someone explaining how to use (with Carrara Studio 3D) to make foggy light scenes from city light posts.
