Creating Hedges instead of Rows of Trees

TFP 14 has TREES, but no HEDGES?    Is there any way to make my row of hedging trees into a formal hedge?  All my hedges are rows of little trees.

I am trying this with Carpinus betulus ("Common Hornbeam").  When cut as a hedge, it is a square hedge with leaves down to the ground, rather like Buxus in formality.  In tree form, the bottom is open and you can see through it, except for the trunk, and the top is tipped.

With Thuja Occidentalis I end up with little evergreen trees.  In a formal hedge, the tips of the trees are chopped off and again, a squared-off hedge is formed with greenery down to the ground and a little narrower at the top.

Any easy tips?

Welcome to the forum.

I am not quite sure what your question actually is - having the tree trunks or getting a clipped look. You can get rid of the trunks by just using the right click Elevate  and enter a negatiive figure.

To get the top flat you can only overlap then sufficiently to simulate the effect or use an image that has been trimmed this way.

In the Gallery section you will see some examples of where I have used one of my own photos of a Buxus with a flat top and an Abeliia and strung then together to form a hedge. I think I posted the images there too if you want to use them.

Thanks Alan, the "elevation" is a quick way to hide the trunks, and by overriding the width of the plant after selecting it from the encyclopedia and planting them closer together, I can achieve a hedge that is more even on the top!  Thanks, anything else would require much more custom plant generation!

I replied last time using my phone of the train so I had not checked if I had posted the Buxus and Abelia images - I hadn't, so I have zipped them here in case they are any use.  Had to zip them as you cannot post BMP images and they have to be BMP to keep the pink surrounding colour.  That will become transparent when imported as a photoboard. (File>Import>Photoboard Wizard).  Use File>Catalogue?Save Element to Cataloge to do just that - if you may want to use them later.

There are two of each (same image reversed) so they can be placed in a 'hedgerow' and not have too much of a repeating pattern. Couple of other plants you may find useful too (most from our garden). Noticed too that the links to the Tips and Tricks tutorial (http://forums.turbofloorplan.com/index.php/topic,772.0.html) on it and back to the Gallery images (http://forums.turbofloorplan.com/index.php/topic,771)are broken - I must redo them and hope they work.
