Title: Under Floor Heating Catalogue Downloads
Post by: Brian LJ on February 15, 2010, 11:13:33 PM
I just came across these .dwg & .dfx downloads whilst doing some research for my 'real life' project.
I'm not sure if they're any good or of use to anyone as I haven't tried to use them yet, I just thought I'd share them before I come out of their website (so much to read and so little time!)...

I'm sure some of you 'pros' will let the rest of us know if they're any good :)

Hi Brian,

I tried importing one of the underfloor heating DXF modules (actualy I could only find one - under CAD, which is the obvious place) but it had difficulty with it.  It said there were too many 'points' (limit 65,000) and was deleteing some. Envisioneer baulked at it too, using the DWG import, with the same comment.  Anyway I continured with the import, but it turned out to be only dozens of 2D drawings of examples of cross sections in a massive grid pattern.  It would probably be ideal for someone using TruboCAD or AutoCAD (or even the 2D part of Envisioneer) to save time drawing but not any use in TFP 3D.

There may have been other files to which you refer but I could not find any except this one http://ufh-ie.wavin.com/master/master.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374305494181&middleTemplateName=oc_middle_service_sub (http://ufh-ie.wavin.com/master/master.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374305494181&middleTemplateName=oc_middle_service_sub).

Hi Brian and Allan I come to the same result as you Allan, I think you can do the same with help of layout tool in tfp.

Hi Allan / Robert,

On behalf of myself & everyone that's viewed my post; thanks to both of you for taking the time to check out the download.... I'm just sorry I wasted your time  :)
I don't know what it's like in other parts of the world, but with regards to my project; it seems that the dodgy used car/double glazing/insurance salesmen of the past have found themselves a nice little niche for themselves in 'green' technology, and had this download been any good at least it would have given me a good 'starting point' ???.

Again,  thanks for both your inputs.

Hi Brian,

I know what you mean about the dodgy dealers - there is a big rumpus on in Australia at the moment about dodgy 'fly by night' insulation installers. Several have been electrocuted and about 1,000 have roofs that are live as a result of poor workmanship and training.

There is nothing wrong with the download you referred to, it is just that it is only for 2D drawings.  The drawings in themselves are very detailed and very useful no doubt for a CAD draftspeople. They just are not applicable for TFP's 3D purposes thats all.  They consist of dozens of different drawings for different configurations I suppose. You don't know until you check it out of course!  It may be possible to use them in the 2D plans in TFP but you would have to find a way to split them up into their individual drawings first as they are all just strung together in a huge grid pattern.
