My house has a bump out. When I draw it and add the roof the area above the bump out and the gable is a hole. Anyone know how to close this hole?

Sorry but I have not heard the expression 'bump out' here in Australia but I am guessing it is part of the building that protrudes slightly from the bulk of it and presumably has a gable over it since you mentioned the gable.
If this is correct, then the automatic roof should do that without any problem, as long as all the walls join on the corners and where the bump out connects to the main wall and the walls are all the same height. If the bump out wall does not connect, then the roof will ignore it, taking it to be a 'free standing' wall that is not part of a 'room'.
However, you also mention that "the area above the bump out and the gable is a hole". I can't quite picture what this means - Is there a hole in the roof (ie the roof goes all around it) or did you meant that the end of the gable is just a hole (ie no gable end in it)? An image would help as it is hard to visualise it from the words. Could it be that it is two storey and you have inserted the roof on the ground floor while the bump out is on the upper floor? In this case the bump out would not have a roof at all. Are all the walls set to 'Extend to Roof'? If they are this should fill in the end of the gable. Sorry it is a bit hard to tell without an image.
It may be best to post an image that shows what you see, unless I have guessed correctly. You could even post a copy of your BLD file and this will easily enable us to see what the problem is. If you do not want to post the BLD file here, then you could email it to me if you want (alches {at} iinet.net.au) - replace the {at} with @ of course).

Here is the file. When i open it there is several things wrong. The one I am talking about is the projection on the bottom. The 3d can show better than I can explain.

Hi Carl,
I can see what the problem is but a further question to arrive at a solution. Is the small roof, as arrowed on the image, supposed to be at this height or at the top, in line with the main roof? Just need to know that, because it could be part of the design and has to be retained or if it should not be there, then the solution is different. Where the walls stick out, should they go to the height of the main roof or just to where the arrowed roof is? In other words the bit that sticks out is like a porch with a roof lower than the main roof.

A picture says a thousand words as they say! Now I see what you are trying to do.
Probably the best way is to put the roof of the bump out part on a separate location. If you go to Building Locations and change your Second Floor settings to the same as the Ground Floor (or create a new one) and add the roof "by Picking Pints" on this location. That way the main roof will not interfere with it.
The main wall to which the bump out part attaches must go right through. Just drag one of the ends through so it joins into the other side of the bump out (it will then extend to the roof) and you need to put an Opening in it, so that it is open to the room behind.
If the wall on the bump out does not extend into the gable, then select that side of the bump out roof and tick the 'Show Gable' box, then change the texture to be the same as the wall below. You will have to change texture of the main wall above the bump out too, as it will extend with the interior wall texture.

A few questions to diagnose the problem:
1) Have you got the wall continuous as in the image? (Ground Floor Location on image)
2) If you have, is it set to Extend to Roof?
3) Have you got the bump out roof on it's own Location? (Bump Out Roof Location on image)
