Title: exporting data files

 ???  how do I export data files in formats, plt, dxf and dwg (two of which are new to me)

Of the three you mention only DXF is possible (in 2D or 3D), although it is possible to export to BMP, JPG and TGA as an image and in 3D as 3DS and VRL.  All are in File / Export.  The DXF and 3DS can be converted to DWG in TurboCAD or other CAD software.  I have not dealt with PLT.

if your goal is to print or deliver non-editable drawings,  you can try something like www.pdf995.com  (http://www.pdf995.com) using the TFP View Manager with their printer driver to produce PDF's which have much flexibility.
