Hi All,
A few minutes into this new programme and another problem - how do I change the default programme settings?
For example, when I change the Drawing Aids settings and hit Apply all is good for my current file. But if I start a new file - the settings have reverted back to the original ones. Same with Global Settings, which seems to default to Canada! What am doing wrong?
Thanks
An easy way to always have what you want per project file is to make a 'default' file....with only a terrain showing in a new file...make all the settings you desire...save the file and name it default, start or similar.
Then when you want to start a new project, open that file, and immediately save it with your new project name and do your work.
For next project, open that "default" setup file again, and immediately save with your next new project name.
IIRC you can set TFP start-up to open your named "default" file upon start-up if that is convenient.
Hi Doug.S
Many thanks for that useful work-around. I guess this program just demands more lateral thinking than most!
Any tips on my other question would also be very welcome.
Cheers

Hi ACM,
Another option, similar to Doug's, is to make all your setting changes, then save the blank file. Then go to Settings/ Program Settings/ General and change the "Startup using Project Template" file name to your saved blank file which will now automatically become the new template file. Any new project will automatically open with all your preferred settings using your own template, without the need to save it first.
Allan
Hi Allan,
Many thanks for this suggestion, too.
I think I'll adopt both - a customized start-up as you suggest, plus templates for each main category of plan I work on.
kind regards
ACM
