I tried to modify a bed I had placed in a drawing. I could change the width from 1600mm to 1200mm in the properties dialog box, but when I pressed the "OK" button the program froze.
I have tried to save the modified bed under a different name, but that didn't work either. I have also tried to create a new catalog and save the bed to that one, no luck.
I have tried this several times and each time I had to use the Windows Taskmanager to break the freeze.
BTW is there a catalog available with European standard size cabinets? I want to use TFP to plan a new kitchen but the cabinets in the catalog are US standard recalculated to metric measures and it doesn't look as if I will be able to resize them myself.

I was able to re size the queen size bed 1 just fine. If you let me know which exact bed I'll try that because it could be one model is broken.
Can you change sizes of all other objects OK but not the one you want? If often a problem try with HA "off"?
Also often either a TFP restart and/or a PC reboot will fix many windows glitches that freeze a program.
I don't know std metric sizes but would have expected the items to have been created in metric and converted to English sizes (imperial) because basic math of TFP is mm (obvious when importing anything created in ft-in and conversion factor involves 25.4).
I have tried Queen sized bed 1 and Twin sized bed 1 and both had the same problem.
I have a SONY VAIO desktop which is a few years old, processor Pentium 4 with 2,5GHz 512MB RAM and NVIDIA GeForce4 4200/AGP/SSE2 graphics.
If I could get the resizing working, I could sort out the kitchen cabinets in notime at all, but until then I am stuck.
I'm on a few 3D forums for different programs and Vaio PCs (especially laptops) tend to have more video problems than others and only Sony updates work, not Nvidia's
That said...try with H/W acceleration (HA) on and off to see if that makes a difference
Another long and extra work approach is to export the objects to another 3D program, re-size as needed, and import back as .3ds....you might want to try one to verify that works....otherwise send a sample to bug list for program authors to review.
I suspect its your PC tho as otherwise many people would have this problem and I've seen no others with this issue. You could also un-install and re-install the program just in case there is a small problem in a file somewhere.
I have updated the graphics drivers with the latest from SONY and I have tried again with and w/o HA, I still have the same problem.
I just may have to un-install / re-install and see what happens. However, this may take a while. I'll come back and tell you what happened when I am fininshed.

I have un-installed and re-installed TFP and I still have the same problem both with and w/o HA.
If the problem is that TFP is not compatible with my PC, even though it theoretically meets the requirements, then we are talking a completely different price range for using TFP, and I am not sure that it is worth it.
One thing I don't understand is how my graphics card affects the saving of a file. That it couldn't display the drawing would make sense, but it displays the modified drawing correctly in the properties dialog box. The problem only comes when I want to save the changes.
BTW my WinXP is continously updated to the latest standard.
I am not a PC expert so tend to stay out of these type of questions but I did have a situation with the old FloorPlan on one PC where I had to have Hardware Acelleration turned off in the program AND turned down on the PC also. I presume you know where this setting is but just in case - (for XP) Right click the desktop, Select Properties, Settings, Advanced (bottom), Troubleshoot). Try adjusting the slider control to reduce the HA. I think you have to reboot the PC between each adjustment. May not help but it did in my case so it is worth a try.

Sorry to hear of your problems, it can be very frustrating.
PC with windows does have a few peculiarities (as do all OS'es, just ask any Apple user about corrupted fonts which kill running programs)....it is a "system" so various parts interact with each other....for example not having a printer or an occasionally ad printer setup can make things work wonky.
Suggest if you can find a Sony Vaio user group you ask there too...someone may have uncovered an issue to try for resolving your problems with TFP.
Since TFP is sensitive to PC config....also suggest you try contacting CADSOFT.com directly for possible user help....but I have no experience with them so don't know how they will respond.
Also you can check a few other things on your PC...like disconnect from Internet (for your own safety) and turn off as many programs running in background as you (use caution, can't shutdown all or windows won't run) ...occasionally a security/antivirus/TSR/or other program running will kill something else....you might try Dr Watson or other logging tool or Microsoft "process explorer "(its free) and watch what is running as you hit a problem.....its a debugging mess but sometimes something simple...once you find it.
You can also search a windows or graphic users group for PC problems with video...use Google, needle in a haystack but you might get lucky with a half hour investment

Thanks for the tip about reducing HA in windows itself, unfortunately it didn't help either.
Doug, thanks a lot for your support. I think there may be a program conflict somewhere or a registry problem. I have some plans to make a fresh re-install of my whole system one of these weeks to clean it out, but that is definitely going to take some time, so until then I'm going to give this thing a rest.

In another forum on Envisioneer (father program of TFP) another person had a problem and resolved by NOT running some background programs....could be that you have a similar issue??

The first question look at the sice of you catalog file it shall not be mutch over 30 Mb, I have nowe a catalog fil whit 34 Mb and it work fine in my computer, if the catalog file is tog big it can freeze the computer . I had made a catalog named EU there is some cabinets in EU-standard or (Swedish) for kitchen merge the groups how begins on EU to own catalog. this will not incres your catalog so much maybe 100 Kb. I will update this EU catalog later with more elements. Robert
