I'm not sure if I should start a new thread so just let me know.
I am now trying to attach deck stairs to the end of the deck.
The problem is that it seems to think the whole deck is on a flat ground level and won't let me attach stairs.
As you can see in the pic the beginning of the deck is at ground floor level, but as it extends out it is about 24" above the terrain.
Any ideas on how to attach deck stairs?
I've got to be missing something simple.

Hi Jeff! I hope this image will help you is no special setting. the slop is set -30 deg from ground level. Deck is on ground floor stair go from deck down to terrain:

I ad a image from a little project I work on just now image 2 this is the view from a porch over the decks down to the sea 50 m below the house. BTW it toke nearly 3 hours to render
Thanks Robban, that is what I am looking to accomplish.
However my terrain is -4' below ground level and the stairs will not attach to the deck.
I did that so the retaining wall cuts into the slop correctly.
I hope you can see that from the Pic.

Hi Jeff. If you have done your deck right, this shall work, see the properties for the stair to patio image. You can extend stair on 4 ways
Down to terrain = from deck to terrain no matter what location you are on
Down to next location = from deck at location 1 to 2 floor level
Down to current deck = from deck 1 to deck 2 ex. from deck on 2nd floor to deck on 1th floor
the 4th way to extend stair is Explicit Height and you case this is the way to go, her can you set the overall height.

To my patio have I a used a normal floor that I have draw in foundation level then done a negative elevation to right level on the terrain,
, then have I draw a outline with layout and convert to retrained walls.
Then you use layout tool to draw the outline of a floor and convert to a retained wall, can you use a negative elevation to set it at same or lower level as the floor.

As Robert said it does work properly. I am just wondering if you are trying to use the house stairs instead of the Deck Stairs?

Yes it should work but I must have something wrong with elevations.
When I raise the deck the stairs show up.
Maybe this will help.
BTW I have the deck on the ground floor location.

I have now test your settings.
I have found this.
with a negative terrain and positive slop the deck stairs will not work correct so, you are right. This must be a bug or something else, but I will look at this more it look like the is intermittent sometime the stairs work sometimes not.
To fix it set the terrain to 0" and make a slop -4' and duplicate your patio to foundation and elevate and all will work OK if not send your bld-file to me and I will lock at it (if you have TFP 15 not 14)

Hi Jeff! I think I have found out the what is wrong, you must use Second story construction and Explicit Height for the deck stair to work, I think it depends on the negative setting of the ground and a positive slop towards the house. I have try all 3 type of decks side by side and it was only second story that worked.
