Thinking of trying out SketchUp (never used) to visualize terrain. If I don't give up on it & can get something I like, is there a SU8 file type (using basic, not Pro version - so that means no 3ds, dxf, etc.) that could be imported as terrain to TFP15? Realize will not be editable within TFP. See that TFP16 supposed to have better SU8 support, but don't know anything about TFP15 (or 15.1). If the import is possible & I add terrain objects (plants, paths, etc), can terrain be replaced later with new import (SU, terrain dxf from FP8 or 10) or new native TFP slope/plateaus/etc. without losing terrain-hug objects? Was pleasantly surprised that I could make terrain changes (added plateau to slopes) after inserting objects and they moved with the adjustments. Sure couldn't do that the old FP.
Wish there was ability to have terrain-hug-based layers (locations) to try out various combos and compare easily. Used to do that with building options I was considering (like balcony vs. deck style 1 vs. deck style 2, etc. ) in FP using locations and filters to turn on/off.
Hi Diane,
I think V15 is only compatible with SKP7, as it was released before SKP8. I haven't use SketchUP much but I understand you can save as a previous version, so you should be able to save it as SKP7.
You should be able to replace an imported terrain with another one, without affecting the existing plans etc that are on the TFP Terrain and just turn the latter off in the View Filter. They won't 'attach' to the imported terrain of course but should just float where they were. You would probably have to turn Collision off though - (bottom Status bar lower right.)
Yes terrain objects will move with the terrain which is really good if you are still playing with it.

Hi Diane, You can use SKP8 but you have to save the work as SKP7-file that will work in TFP-15
