V3 as my first - that is along time ago!!!
I am not a Techo person so can't help with the install on Win7 but I am surprised that it failed if it was set back to XP.
TurboFloorPlan is a complete different program really, from V12 onwards and cannot open previous version files. The only option would be to export to DXF if it would do that (can't remember now) or print them , scan and use TFP to trace them.

Thanks Alan, I appreciate your reply. I ordered TFP v16 today and I'm looking forward to trying it. My only concern is the effort involved in recreating all of my +200 drawings. I believe V3 does have an export to DXF function but I'll need access to another XP machine to try it. If it works, tracing might save me some time so I'll look into this. I'll let you know how it works out.

Not sure if this will help, but just in case....
If memory helps, this program was developed for Win 3.1/95 so the flat compatibility mode won't work because the gap between versions is too big. However, there are other resources.
First, get the user manual and look for the minimum requirements for FPP V3 and compare with your current system. For example. check the required screen resolution then run in compatibility mode and change the screen resolution.
There are many resources and combinations, so hopefully, one of them will be the rigth one.

Anyway, as it is a new computer. don't forget to update the drivers

Just in case...check your version of Win7...is is "pro" or "home premium"?
If "home" then you can't do much more than suggested above
But if "pro" or "ultimate" you can get a free MS XP mode to run old programs as if it were an XP PC.

Don't know where you're located, but in my area, there's a lot of used computers for free or really cheap (craiglist, freecycle). Bought a little XP laptop a few months ago for $30. Maybe consider something like that for your old plans? At least it'd make redraws easier when you can see both at same time.
But I'm a geek with something like 20 computers here at the house... ;D

Sorry to hear that the solutions didn't work
Just an idea --> In the past, I had a similar situation with a Roxio Media Creator program. This is what I did --> I rented a computer with the old OS for one week (basic cheap computer) --> I exported all my files
It is not the solution but at least, if you can export or print your V3 files to DXF, you will be able recover the designs
If you rent the computer and you install the V3 program, try to set a small network and proceed to the installation in Win 7 using Windows Easy Transfer (is free)

Glad to hear you got V3 working again.
The change from V3 to V16 is a 'giant leap' ;D but you will soon getthe hang of it. It is very easy and quick once you do.

Note that it is for Envisioneer but it is the same up to the point of "Working Drawings" - so ignore most of it from that point on, as this is not included in TFP.

I have the exact same problem re: FloorPlan 3D v.3 except my FP v.3 program, which I used for theatrical set design, was completely lost when my old computer blew up. Currently I am running Windows 7 Ultimate and have downloaded the Microsoft XP mode you used successfully so if I can just find another copy of FP v.3 I should be able to run it.
Do you know of any sites that might still have FP v.3 available? I've tried FP v.15 and TFB Pro but I really miss the simplicity of v.3 for doing quick floor plans for the stage. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

and there was a place called $5 s/w or similar...I got House & Garden old version or the guy's name that hosted a tv program for home repair....and home depot used to have an old version
maybe someone else here will remember the names better
