Instead of a door, I want an opening. I want to come 1' out from a wall, then, a 4' opening, then a wall on over to tie into a wall.
I'm having trouble getting the right dimensions. How do I do this?
I am not sure why you are having a problem with this as the Opening element can be set to whatever size you want (see image).
All you should need to do is choose one from the "Rectangular (Doorways)" openings, so that it automatically is door height and set the width if necessary. The one I have used in the image is metric but 1219mm is equal to 4' so I would imagine a 4' one is already there if you are using the Imperial Catalogue.
If you are having trouble with actually positioning it exactly 1" from the other wall, all you have to do is select the 4' opeing, then before you insert it, right click and choose "Enter Insertion Offset...", enter 1" in the box that pops up and where you want it - it will insert the opening exactly 1" from the nearest wall to where you click.
Hopefully that covers your problem. If the issue was something different then just ask again.
