Hi Hesk,

Welcome to the Forum.   :)

You will find all the Area / Perimeter / Volume tools on the Analyse toolbar (may be turned off - turn on in Settings / Program Settings / Toolbars).

You can also access them through the Tool / Analyse menu.

You can display them in several ways. Once inserted, as in the example image, if you change the area of the room by moving the walls, all the figures will adjust automatically. Very convenient.

Hi Hesk,

I am sorry but it does not look as though the version you are using has the Analysis tools.

I have put all your Toolbar names and Menu names through Google Translate (from German to English) and the Analyse toolbar and Tools Menu, do not appear to be there.

In the image attached, I have moved all the toolbars onto the screen, so you can see all the ones in TurboFloorPlan Home and Landscape Pro V16 and their names, so you can compare them with yours. I have also expanded the Tools menu so you can see the room area analysis tools as they appear there.

The version you are using translates as TFP Home and Apartment Architect. As far as I know there is not an equivelent version in English - not by this name anyway, so I can't help any further I am afraid. These tools do not appear to be in that version.

Hi Hesk and Allan,

I am not sure if this info will help, but, just in case, this is an additional idea

The Haus- & Wohnungsarchitekt mentioned above is a V12 version, therefore, if this version works as our TFP V12, it has a slight difference with V16 --> Main menu -->  Go to Tools --> Calculate / Estimate --> Area / Perimeter --> the Area perimeter calculator will open

Hope this helps  ;)

Pat

Hi Pat,

Hopefully this is the case but although V12 has the option in a different place, the images do not seem to show a Tools menu (or Google is getting the translation wrong!!  ;D )

Hi Allan,

My guess is that it'd be in the "extras" menu, but... let's see if Hesk finds it

No. There is only the option to show the whole floor, but not every room(screenshot)

There seems to be a little confusion about the versions.

Which company is TurboFloorplan from?

I got this produkt: http://www.amazon.de/Franzis-Verlag-GmbH-Hausplaner-2012/dp/3645702245/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1330411297&sr=8-1

Mine is from www.franzis.de (didnt buy it there, it was a present)

Anyone knows if there is a possibility to uprade this to another version?

Hi Hesk,

TurboFloorPlan is produced by Cadsoft for IMSI Design and is basically the 3D component of Envisioneer. Envisioneer Is dramatically more expensive as it has a very extensive secondary component for producing technical architectural drawings that is not available in TFP.

The version you have is obviously from IMSI Design and may be the German equivelent of TFP Deluxe, which does not have all the features of TFP Pro version notably the extensive landscaping options.

The dialog box you have posted is the Area/Perimeter dialog, which is one of the analysis tools, but only shows the information for the locations as you have noted.  The 'Area by Room' enters the room name, area, perimeter and cubic capacity actually onto the drawing. You can also draw an area covering several rooms if you want and it will calculate for the combined area.  If you have the Area/Perimeter dailog I would image the 'by room' options are also there somewhere.

Re Upgrading: Version 16 is the latest so you could obtain that. It is not an upgrade as such but a totally new version. You could still operate your existing version and the new one on the computer but not at the same time. V16 should also open your existing files, so whaever you have created on the existing program would not be lost - you could just add to it (use a copy though just in case).

Why not download the trial version of V16, try opening a copy of one of your old files and see how it goes. The Trial is the fully functional version but only lasts for 14 days.  If you decide to buy it, you do not need to download again, just enter the number you are given when you make the purchase and the trial version will be become your permanent copy.

I could not find a reference to TFP on the IMSI German site http://www.imsi.de/ (http://www.imsi.de/). It is obviously focussing on TurboCAD, their flagship product. The English ptogram details are here: http://www.imsidesign.com/Products/TurboFLOORPLAN/TurboFloorPlan3DProv16/tabid/1650/Default.aspx (http://www.imsidesign.com/Products/TurboFLOORPLAN/TurboFloorPlan3DProv16/tabid/1650/Default.aspx) and the trial dowload (if that is any use) is at http://activate.imsisoft.com/gennedfreetrial.aspx?productpage=TFP_Pro_16 (http://activate.imsisoft.com/gennedfreetrial.aspx?productpage=TFP_Pro_16)

If you are planing to do some serious work that may be the way to go as the one you have appears quite limited (going by you earlier screen shots).

      Allan :
I was following this topic,  and could this "function"  be used to tell the  square footage of a room, or the entire  house ?

                                                                                                                                     garystan

Yes - doing area 'by picking points' means you can calculate the whole house, several rooms, one room or part of a room - any area you want. For clarity you can give it your own name (eg Kitchen / Dining / Family Room or Under Stair Cupboard).

Very useful tool!
