I am having trouble setting the resolution of the bitmap when I do a photorealistic render. I need to render a 8' by 4' bitmap at 300 dpi ( 28800 x 14400 pixels). When I set the resolution that high, the program resets the width back to the smaller last used resolution. Is this a limitation?

I don't know if there is a max size render but I have posted a problem with render size selections window for both using the arrows and typing in the render size....and found out this was reported earlier too.
You can search this forum....but I have not seen any help on this item and assume its a bug and hopefully will be fixed.
I have rendered 1024x768 all the time but have not tried any higher but will do so when I get a chance after holiday.
So keep trying/testing, but you may have uncovered another bug in the same dialog window.
Here is how I see the situation you are in.
TFloorplan will render up to 10,000 (I don't know if you can do 10,000 but less than works for 'width'.
You must enter a number based on Monitor Resolution of 4:3
So, if you enter 7680 you must divide by 4 and multiple x 3 to get the ratio for height of 5760.
At 7680 x 5760 bmp rendering at 150 dpi you will get an image over 100 MB. (51 x 38 inches).
I do not know how to set the program to render at 300 dpi.
I have found that the reality of your situation is that the printer does not need such large images. They have the equipment and additional programs to generate quality prints at the size you require WITHOUT the need for such large bmps. In fact most printers I know of will not accept bmps that are larger than 20 mb. The equipement they use automatically adjusts the dpi and 'adds' dots that take into account the 'surrounding' colors to provide a 'seemless' render.
Most images of the size you are talking about are meant to be viewed from quite far away. If you are talking about something to be displayed in a Museum where close up viewing is important, there are other print techniques to create those renders but they are expensive (most large prints are expensive to start with , $1000 is not unusual).
I would talk to your printer or many printers to find out if they can produce what you need from Envisioneers settings (max of 10,000) and see what they suggest.
Some 19" wide-screens have a native resolution of 1440x900.

FWIW, I used to render FP across twin 'bottles', producing 'letterbox' format. If I tried that now, it would be, um, rather wide...
I tried the recommended settings (Width of 7680, and height of 5760). When I hit reply the Height keeps resetting itself to 768. Is the 10,000 width limit documented anywhere? Is there anyway to confirm if this is a bug?

I think there is definitely a bug here as has been reported earlier. I have TFP on two machines and both do the same thing - the height always reverts to what was previously selected from the dropdown. If I set to 640x480 then change to Custom and set it to something else, the height will revert to 480. If I select 1024x768 then change it in Custom, the height will revert to 768. If Current View Size is chosen, then Custom, it will reset to 0 regardless of what the Current View Size is.
Jack, how do you manage to set yours to 7680 x 5760?

seems to be that TFPlan isn't working right or at least not the same as Envisioneer.
I mistakenly tested in the Envisioneer program. I will check with them and see if this is a bug or by design.
