Hi all,
My second day of TFPv16 and i have a few questions:
1. The terrain upon which my house is built is not flat. Therefore i have a 30cm 'foundation wall' at the front of the building but not at the rear. How do i go about implementing this into my drawings. This requires steps into the front of the house but not at the back where you exit directly onto the garden.
2. Is there any way of re-sizing the individual panes of a window. We have two vertical panes, however, they are not of equal size. Is there a way of showing this?
3. We hava an attic room on the third floor, but i may come back to this later. Is there anything i need to do upfront to allow me to add this at a later point in time?
4. Is there a good thread on how best to use the walkthrough a 3d view function? Whenever i choose the 3D view, the cameras are never in the right place and the house is a speck in the background.
5. Is there a setting whereby, when you enter the wall length (at the bottom of the screen), this constitues the interior dimensions at all times?
Many thanks! Im sure i will have many more questions to come!!
Cheers
Adam
I van answer one of the wuestions though I am not a pro on this. Hehe.. But the camera you can place wherever you want. This you do either in 2D or 3D (where you see all from above - depends on which building location you are on)
Play around with it and you will have lot of fun.
All the other q's goes to the pro. Hehehe..
Have a nice Sunday.. and btw welcome to the forum. Ask and re-ask if something is unclear.
Gelagirl
Thanks Gelagirl,
I think i may spend a lot of time on this site. The software looks very good, i have only scratched the surface, but cant wait to get into more detail.
Fear not, i will not be afraid of asking!!
Thanks again
Hi Adam,
Gelagirl has already welcomed you to the forum so I will go straight into the answers to your questions, briefly if I can, but hopefully you will be able to follow:
1. I assume you have not sloped the Terrain yet or the question may have been different. So...on the Landscape toolbar choose the Slope tool, set the angle of the slope, or the height of the slope over the full extent of the block or terrain, then click at the low end ofthe slope, drag and click at the high end. If you set the height to 300 and just stretch the slope from one end of the house to the other, it will be flat either side of the house and only slope where the house is. Start and end the slope over the full distance of the slope and work out the height accordingly. For example, if the slope height is 300mm over a house 10m long and you extend the slope 10m either side of the house, then the height of the slope would be 900mm. Does that make sense? You need to set the position of the Terrain so that the Terrain meets the back of the house. You can raise or lower the Terrain at Settings / Program Settings / Terrain. Use the Side Elevation tool to easily check how the slope looks.
Make sure the Wall's Drop Face is set to 300mm so it will extend the bricks or siding down to the Terrain.
2. Do you mean that the left pane is wider than the right for example? If that is the case, use the Fixed window the width of one side and then go to the Lites tab and add a Lite on the appropriate side that is the width of the other pane, changing all the lower settings to 1 so that you only have one pane of glass. (see image 1)
3. The following post should answer this one: http://forums.turbofloorplan.com/index.php/topic,2213.0.html (http://forums.turbofloorplan.com/index.php/topic,2213.0.html). For now just add a Third Floor with a wall height of 1mm (Settings / Building Locations).
4. Further to Gelagirl's comments on this one - in Plan view select the arrow on the right of the 3D icon - that gives you two cameras and the option to add a new one. Select 'Place New Camera' then click near the house and drag the camera 'view' in the direction of your house to see a 3D view from that angle. Use the Walk tool (two feet icon) to walk through the model.
A question here: In plan view, what happens when you select the Navigation toolbars Zoom to Extents? (Keyboard ZE). Do you see the Terrain with your plan on it or is the whole thing way in the distance? This question is just preclude another possible problem raised by your comment that in 3D the "house is a tiny speck in the background". If the plan is also a speck you mnay have an issue there that we need to fix soon.
5. I don't quite understand the part of the question "constitues the interior dimensions at all times".
Personally I never use this entry option, as it is far too slow. I just draw the walls, roughly where they should be, then just drag them to make the rooms the size I want. It is much quicker and can be very precise if you use the Nudge tool for final adjustments. Nudge is the Arrow keys and Control Arrow. You can set the distances in Setting/ Program Settings /Drawing Aids. I have one set to 1mm and the other to 25mm. Select the wall you need to move and repeatedly hit the Arrow key for the direction you want to move the wall. Gives you 25mm or 1mm precision.
Hope that helps you along the way.
