I have to be missing something simple...
I'm trying to add a set of stairs from the garage to the basement. The garage is at 0", and the basement is at -9' (w/ 10' walls). In the area that should be an opening for the stairs to be visible from above, the ground is showing... If you look from below up the stairs, the ground isn't there.... If I turn the terrain off, it looks like it should, but I shouldn't have to turn the terrain off. I've played with the wall heights, and in the pictures I have them set so they're 4" above grade (9'4" walls).
What am I missing?

Hi Danny,
If you go to Settings / Program Settings / Terrain you will notice it has a tick box to "Autocut Terrain around building" and a dropdown selector to choose which Location to cut around. You may need to tick the box or change the Location setting.
Sometimes you may want to cut a hole in the Terrain of a different shape to the either of the Locations. You can create another location and draw the shape using the Room Divide tool (like an invisible wall) and make sure it joins to form a 'room' or enclosed area. The Terrain will disappear from inside the lines.
The Landscape Pad tool will also cut the terrain and create a below ground 'floor' if you make it's thickness negavite (otherwise it will sit on top of the Terrain). For instance, if you insert a Pad that is the shape of your Basement and make it's Thickness setting -9', then it will cut a hole in the Terrain 9' deep and and line the 'walls' of the hole with the same material as the botton - ideal for making a tiled swimming pool for example.
The Terrain is 'one sided' in that it is transparent from underneath which is why it appears not to be there when you look up at it but is there when you look down. Walls are also one surface - put the camera inside the wall and you see through it.
