Title: My Home Office
Post by: Allan Chesney on June 17, 2012, 02:13:12 AM
Thought you may like to take a look at my home office.  ::)

Why is it like that?   -   Take a look outside the window in the second image!  ;D

Not really - I can't stand sport of any sort!!!  The mess is because of an additions to TFP!!  ;)

Wonderful room Allan...love the effect of the light coming in through the window...I have to start playing around with internal rooms soon.  Does your office really reflect this room at all?

Hi Garry,

Well yes and no.  It does have a similar bay window, desk, cabinets, computer, and the picture, board and clock on the wall, but it is carpeted and there are no rolling lawns outside of the window. Of course it is no where near as untidy ( but that is my opinion - not my wife's!  ;D ). It certainly does not have rolls of plans everywhere - they are all hidden behind a cupboard on the opposite wall !!!  ;)

In my opinion it is when you start playing with the lighting that it becomes quite addictive, so be warned ! Your office may end up the same!

Curious...
In first photo a light is on and little show outside...did you render with sunlight off?

And in second image with obvious sunlight.....no internal lights "on". (tho the PC screen does seem to "emit" light; but it is not a "light" and you have probably set texture to be emissive.)

Do we still have interior renders with interior lights "on" "arguing" with exterior sunlight and we still need to use "work-arounds"? Or is there an easy solution now?

Very odd for TFP to still have that issue as I have other 3D programs that do not have that issue at all...for various render settings....and "lights" have enough "watts" to overcome sunlight shining thru a window...and display 'glow' as if they were emitting light (with user controls).

Yes, the light outside is from a 'streetlight'.

Correct - the lighting is only daylight, but the screen is set to highly emmissive.

Unfortunately this is still an issue. Obviously it is not an easy one to fix within the current programing language. The interior surfaces of walls are different to exterior ones, and react differently to different lights. Interior walls only respond to artificial lights or daylight through a window/door, which is why we have the 'force wall to be exterior' options - otherwise the wall is black even in bright sunlight. I am currently doing some more experiments with this and will post the results when finised.

   Allan :

I  did a  "double-take"  on this one.    I actually thought it was a photo.  Must be old age setting in.............Kinda looks like my computer desk.....even though mine isn't  an office setting.     I have to keep working on the clutter.   No offense.       But, this rendering is definitely realistic !!!!

                                                                                                                                                garystan

Hi Garystan,

No it is definitely TFP - nothing else and no 'post-processing' - 'straight out of the box' as they say.
