Title: I can't insert interior windows
Post by: ontheside on December 03, 2007, 04:21:23 PM
Hi all,

Maybe this is just a truly novice question but I cannot figure out how to intersect exterior windows in a 6" wall. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry but I am not quite clear what you are trying to do. Inserting windows is just a matter of selecting the one you want and dropping it into the wall.  What do you mean by "intersect" exterior windows?

Thanks for the reply. The simple click and drop for inserting windows is not working on exterior walls. It works on the interior walls (which are 4") but not the exterior walls (which are 6"). Thanks again for the help.

Windows work OK on exterior 6" walls

Try generating a simple house using the house wizard and insert a window

If still having a problem on the simplest house rectangle, suggest you post a problem .bld file here for others to view and help you.

I created a new building using the wizard, and I was able to insert windows into the exterior walls.

Any advice on what to do?

Thanks a million.

So now you know inserting into exterior walls does work....and you know how to do it OK

Also means your .bld file that won't insert stuff on exterior walls has a problem which you must find and fix

- Try file "repair"  (you may lose some parts....maybe do this on a copy of .bld)

- Compare wizard file with your file and find differences in ext. walls, room floors, and foundation...fix your file

- Inspect each wall and look for breaks or extra wall pieces that should not be there

- try modifying the wizard file to match your problem file and see if anything you do makes the insert not work

- try deleting one wall at a time in your file to see if that fixes the problem

- after your tests above if still have problem, post file here for others to test and find problem
