I have an unusually shaped structure I am working on. The exterior wall is composed of 20 segments 8' long and set at 18 Deg off set from each other to form a roughly circular structure. The problem is that "mousing" the walls length is no precise enough and if a just create the wall segments at 8' and try to move them into position the either fail to "connect" into a contiguous exterior wall, or they alter their lengths to stop being 8' segments.
I solved the 18 degree offset through a setting the default angle to 18 instead of 15 deg.
But when I select a wall segment which is connected to any other segment the numeric edit of length always jump to the segment of either side of the selected segment.
Thinking I could just select one segment ahead and edit length numerically didn't work because the other parts of the selected cluster of walls automatically changed length too. Even with careful editing I couldn't ever get more than 5 segments to both the right length and angle. So I tried to copy the clustered segments and rotate them and then reconnect them. Now the segments wouldn't connect.
I know that this is very basic, and I will probably feel quite foolish when someone clues me in on how to do it, but I solemnly commit that I will hold no ill feeling to anyone who helps.
Please?!?!?!?
Thanks in advance... NAllison
Hi and Welcome to the Forum!
The easiest way to do this is to use the Commander bar. This is at the bottom of the acreen to the right and centre but may be turned off. You can turn it on in Settings / Program Settings / Workspace (tick the Commander box). Set the Snap Angle to 18 degrees which I gather you have done already and make sure AngleSnap is active in the Status Bar (bottom right)
The Commander bar gives you two settings Distance and Angle (as a proportion of 360 degrees). Proceed as follows:
Click and start to drag the wall to the right but before you click again just type 8' in the Commander bar Distance box and hit the Enter key. This will draw the wall section 8' long horizontally. Now drag the wall out again, still horizontally but then move it down so that it snaps to the next angle (18 degrees) and again type 8' in the Distance and hit the Enter key again. Continue on the same way - drag now at 18 degrees (make sure you are in line with the 18 degree slope first), then move the mouse slightly down so it snaps to the next 18 degree angle and then type 8' again and Enter. If you continue this way, after 20 8' Distances and AngleSnaps / Enters, it will join at the start point.
Hope you follow that as it is a bit hard in words, but it does work perfectly.
If the roof just follows the walls then that should be easy - just 1 click inside the walls.

Thank you! The part of the trick I was missing was to use the "commander bar" prior to clicking to "complete" the segment. I knew it had to be a simple thing I was missing, but for the life of me couldn't dig it out of the manuals.
I'm sure that now I will get it moved forward.
Thank you again!

No problem. All the best with your project - it looks as though it could be an interesting one!
Don't be afraid to ask if you get stuck again.
