Am a self-teaching newbie in home design and TFP. Sometimes come across puzzling mysteries. Who can help?
Two floor problems:
1.
I must have clicked some button which made all my room floors invisible. All the carpets and marble became 'covered' with grass, my terrain 'floor'. How do I get my original floors back? In this case the bungalow I am designing is on an elevated piece of my terrain, 150cm high, called 'bungalow level'. It had proper floors but now they are invisible.
2.
Is there an easy way to detect 'leakings' in a set of walls that make it impossible to autofill a floor? If the walls do not completely surround a room and the room remains white in 2D Designer's Plan, how can I then find the trouble location? In rooms with complicated shapes it is sometimes time consuming to find the 'leak'.

Problem 1 solved - by myself. Stupid me... I had made my own floors invisible by hiding them in the view manager. Wasn't aware of it.
Sorry for bothering with a non-existant problem.
The other one still remains.

I suspected that was the problem with the invisible floors but you found it before I finished the reply - so on to point 2...
2. Inserting Floors:
- A floor can be drawn anywhere - choose Floor by Picking Points (drop down arrow next the floor icon, or right click after you have selected a floor to use). This allows you to draw a floor of any shape, anywhere.
- A floor can be inserted into a room by clicking it into the room (but the walls must join on each corner).
- If "Automatically Insert Floors" is ticked, in Settings/ Program Settings/ Building Aids, a floor will be inserted throughout the building, as long as the walls join.
If walls do not join properly you will have many other problems apart from automatic floors not working, so they must be fixed. When you draw walls you should endeavor to do it in a continuous process, making sure that the final join snaps into place. Make sure that Object Snap is turned on in the the Status bar on the bottom right of the screen.

Usually I follow all the steps you mentioned to ensure that all walls close properly.
But sometimes things DO go wrong, if you make a number of changes in a dark corner of your project.
So my question remains: what is the flashlight for such dark corner. In other words: how to easily find the 'gap'.
I had situations where for instance a curved wall SEEMED to cross a straight wall, but in fact it did not - or not enough.
Would be nice if there would be some 'hint' or 'alert': pay attention to this area, it looks unusual.
I don't think such alert exists. Any other idea?
Generally a connecting wall needs to go at least to the middle of the wall it is connecting go. To ensure that you have definately gone far enough, it is best to extend the wall right through the other wall and then select and delete the bit of wall sticking out the other side. That makes sure the join is complete and the program itself finishes and seals the join properly.
If you play with wall connections a lot, you run the risk of corrupting the wall. Small triangular shapes of wall can be left in the middle of the join and sometimes sticking out of it. Often it is better to delete all these bits and remake the join cleanly. Also it is good to to occasionally run the File / Repair Project. This will sometimes find possible corruptions and delete them - if a wall disappears you know it was corrupt.

The "flashlight" for inspecting wall joins is "zoom".
Zoom in very close to see the joins at corners and mid wall "t"'s etc.
They should all look the same and generally are joined with approx. 45 degree triangles (if walls are all on orthogonal 90 degree orientations)
If you can't insert a floor, ceiling, or roof by 'room', then start looking at wall joints....in 2D; zoomed in very close.
@Doug: That is what I always do. But still it is sometimes a very time consuming activity.
Yesterday I spent around 2 hours in finding a minimal gap that had been created by some accident.
As a result the floors of 5 different rooms suddenly all had the same color.
Would be nice if some alert popped up (like a red circle) at a location where something strange is detected.
But I guess TFP doesn't do that for me.

If you had different floors in different rooms and then ended up with one floor all the same colour, it sounds as though you have Auto Floor turned on (which gave you the one colour throughout). That would mean you had two floors in the other rooms. If you want different floors in each room, Auto Floor should be off or all floors deleted, before you insert floors in the separate rooms. Obviously the outer wall was in tact for the auto-floor to work but one of the interior ones wasn't. If there was a break in an interior wall, inerting a floor in that room would fail, or go through two rooms. There is no warning if you have two floors in the same room. If you look into the rooms in 3D, select the floor and delete it you should see the sky (or whatever the background is). If you see another floor then you obviously have two (or more).

File / Repair project can sometimes pick up corruptions but a gap in a wall would not be a corruption - it may be intentional. The program would have no way of knowing whether it was supposed to be there or not.
