Hi,
I work on a project with 3 building locations/levels.
Manipulated a lot with copying walls to the higher and lower locations.
Also moved (parts of) many walls
Now I am stuck with two portions of walls that I do not need anymore.
But I can not select/delete them, not on any of my locations/levels. They are always greyed out.
What can I do?
Try going to the View Filter and tick the box on the upper right so you can select each location separately. Turn each off (Display None or just turn the walls off on that location) one at a time, until you identify the location on which the wall pieces are located. If there are other walls on that location that you want, create another location and move them to that location, then go back to the one where the wall pieces are and delete them or go to Edit / Select All (or Control A) and delete everything on that location. You can then delete that location too if you want.
If you copy walls to another location it is important to select all the walls that make up a section (eg drag the mouse over them) or if all the walls are to be moved then select a wall, right click and Select All Similar. This will pick up all pieces of a wall, as there are sometimes small segments of a wall where they join, especially if odd angled walls are involved. If you select walls individually, these can be missed. This may be why you have breaks in walls as mentioned in your other post.

Hi Allan,
Thanks for all your answers. The Select All Similar option is something I didn't use till now (also because it has an unwanted side effect: it also selects the similar objects in a different building that I do NOT want to edit (I am working on a project with several individual bungalows on various levels of terrain).
But apart from this feature: I did follow all your steps but two 'loose pieces' of former walls are somewhere lost in space but cannot be located, identified, selected, deleted. On the main location it is as clearly colored as the other walls (including the one that was created when I tried to move the stubborn piece: instead of moving it a copy was created and the original one cannot be selected).
On other floors the stubborn wall pieces appear greyed out, but strangely enough one of my two 'leftover walls' has two sections: half of it is half greyed out, the other 75% greyed out...
Any solution?
Found out two more things that hopefully can help you find a solution:
1. Both leftover walls are framed walls.
2. Repair the project does not help.
Problem solved, but in a very strange way!
In neighboring walls (but not connected at all with the 'leftover pieces'!) I detected a very small segment. It seemed to fit in that wall, the behavior of the wall was normal. But... when I decided to delete that small segment and extend the neighboring section of the same wall, the result was surprising: not only the small segment was deleted, but also the (not-connected) left-over piece hovering elsewhere in the same room.
How can this happen?
Sorry but I can't quite understand what has happened here without seeing it. I will just comment on a few of the points you have made in the last three posts and you can tell whether they are relevant or not.

Select all similar will select all of the same wall on that location. If you have a second building in the project, it should generally be on a different location, so the Select All Similar should not affect that.
If it is on a different location and did select the same wall type then you must have deactivated an option in Settings / Program Settings / Building Aids. The option "Select Elements on current location only while in plan view" should be ticked. The only time you would untick this, is if you wanted to move EVERYTHING in a multilevel building to another position on the terrain. If this is unticked and you Select All Similar, it will select the same element on different locations.

Without seeing exactly what you experienced it is impossible to tell. It sounds very much like the wall was corrupt and this was somehow causing the 'ghost' walls. You also mentioned in the first reply, that one part of wall was duplicated rather than moved. This sounds suspicious too. You can right click and Duplicate a selected item. If you do Duplicate this way and do not immediatley move the duplicate to it's new location, the duplicate remains where it was - in other words, you have two copies of the object on top of each other. It sounds as though this may have happened and your attempt to move the wall simply relocated the duplicated section.
As I indicated before, it is best to draw walls in one continuous sequence if possible. Don't worry about exact lengths of wall, just roughly draw the shape you require, then drag the different walls to get the lengths you want for each wall. If you draw the walls in short pieces, it will be very difficult to get them to join properly and corrupt connections will develop.
If you continue to have problems with this, it may be best to post the BLD file here or email it to me if you prefer (alches AT iinet.net.au), so I can have a look at it for you. If these wall issues are not corrected, you could have problems later with the floors ceilings and roof and especially with creating photrealistic renderings, which may fail altogether.

The explanation about 'Similar items' is clear. Will start using it in the future. The amounts of features is overwhelming, so it is impossible to master them all as a newbie.
The strange small segments that cause 'ghost wall pieces' elsewhere in the project (usually nearby but not connected) are apparently sort of common: I now already found 5 of them. Had nothing to do with working on different levels or locations, all pieces must have been created when changing/adjusting walls.
The one I mentioned first was NOT supposed to be a copy: I did NOT duplicate anything, just MOVED a wall with the crosshair. But one existing part remained in place, as a ghost copy. As said: now gone.
If I come across more of these ghosts, I will email you my project.
Thanks.

Maybe if you moved walls the bits were left behind then. When you join walls a tringular piece is formed in the centre of the join. This should be a clean triangle as in the first image below. If you have small, odd shaped triangles in the intersections (as in the second image) then you have potential problems. Moving a wall, without making sure you select it all, could leave bits behind, but if you have odd segments as in the second image, especially bits sticking out, they must be cleaned up.
Anyway, looks as though you may have it resolved, but, if further problems surface, then email the file and I will check it out for you.

Why you changed your name to Allam in your latest post? Sounds more islamic, but even whereas I live in the biggest muslim country in the world, I am not one - and you can keep your normal name ;-) hehehehe...
Just one of my typical typo's !!! My brain gets ahead of my fingers. You should see the results before I go back over and fix it all up - and then I miss some!! ;D
Allan (got it right that time!) ;)
