I am attempting to produce my first project using TFP. I am having 3 problems in trying to get the roof to conform:
1. The main portion of the addition is has a simple 8:12 gable roof. An intersecting gable connects the large gable to the existing 2-story house (seen in rear). Due to design constraints, this intersecting gable must be changed to 4:12. When i make this change, I loose about a piece of gable end siding on the main gable (see 2nd image).
2. The intersecting shed roofs seen in the foreground is the configuration I am trying to place on the uncovered roof areas. I have tried using 2 different building locations since the shed roof areas have an 8' plate height vs 10' for the rest of the addition. I cannot seem to get to the desired result.
3. You can see thru the small window in the front wall of the shed-roofed area that the wall inside is an exterior wall. Since this is an interior space it should not be. This is the only way I could get the siding to appear above, on the main gable end.
Sorry Tom but I am really struggling to understand what you are trying to do here. I do not understand where the different roof pitches and shed roofs should be and I cannot see how you have come to have a gap in the gable end, especially as it appeas to be at an angle rather than straight which would be more understandable.
Does the wall outside the gable join back in at the other? If it doesn't then the gable wall will be considered as Exterior and have the siding on it. This may casue the interior texture to extend into the gable so you may need to use the Display Gable option in the roof Properties, to get the siding on the gable, rather than having the wall extend into the gable.
If you have different wall heights then they should generally be on separate locations. In fact if you have separate buildings as some of these appear to be, they are usually best on separate locations, though not essential. What actually is the problem you are having with the shed roof?
Is it possible to provide images which words indicating what type of roof should be where, so we can understand better what you are trying to achieve? Also, if possible, can you save the images as JPG? They use much less memory and will open on the forum, instead of having to be opened in other programs.
It may also be necessary to post the BLD file also to diagnose the hole in the gable end but an image with explanations would help greatly.

I have attached another view of the roof where I attempted to float the two shed sections in the approximate location. Unfortunately when I do (even when elevated), all but the eave sections are removed. But I hope you can see that the two shed sections are different slopes (one being 8:12, which is existing, and the other 4:12). In the second image all that I changed is the slope of the gable that ties the main addition to the existing 2 story house. This is what results in the missing section of gable. There i changed the slope from 8 to 4. I want the shallow sloped shed section to be a continuous plane with one plane this connecting 4:12 gable.
I do not know how to make notes on images, is there an easy way to do this? I hope this helps. I can send along the bld file if that would help.

Select the bad roof > right click properties > under solution type / select Ignore Next Story.

EDIT I think you just need to add the new location / draw lower walls but do not create and enclosed space. Then add the roof by pick points over the lower walls. Set roof edges to gable as needed/ set front pitch as needed (4/12). And check above note.
You will have to add floor in this section by pick points also because it is not an enclosed space. This poses some other problems, like texture of inside wall when view from the interior. You could add an interior wall but I believe by joining and enclosing the space, you interfer with the other location setting and get the opening at the gable end. Seeing the file is the easist solution.

Wow, just 2 clicks...what a difference. thanks Jack! when you say not to enclose the space, do you mean do do not attach the exterior wall to the adjacent large gable wall?
