Title: Importing .jpg in Photo Board Wizard and rotating planes
Post by: Rodders on August 14, 2012, 01:39:33 AM
G'day all (sorry Allan - I'm back...),

I wish to create an object whereby I will import a number of .jpg images using the Photo Wizard, and insert them; one each on five sides of a cube; say, similar in effect to the numbers on the six sides of a die. I can so so in two planes (say, x and y), but have not been able to rotate the images such that they appear on the top side of the said cube (say, z). I tried attching the images to the sides of a custom member. The member will rotate how I want, but the image won't. If you know what I mean; can it be done in TFP; and if so, how?

Thanks in advance, Rod.

Hi Rod,

The problem is probably because you are using the photoboard wizard.  If you use the custom member you have the 6 sides (as of a dice).  All you need to do is import the 6 images as a texture (not a photoboard - photoboards are used mainly for cutout images with transparent surrounds - so they appear to be 3D).

Once you have the 6 textures imported (into the Pictures group for example), you can adjust them on the surfaces of the Custom Member using the Mapping option to rotate or slide the images across the surface.  The image below, although relating to a door, will give you the idea.

Does that make sense?

Allan
