I currently own Floorplan3D V5. It is old. I am looking for an upgrade product and am considering TurboFLOORPLAN 3D Home Landscape Pro V16.
In addition to updating an old product I need to do some things that FP3D could not do. For example, I want to be able to create rooms in an attic space. I have an upcoming project that a customer wants to create a master suite in an attic space. The room is huge, old construction (not trusses). It is 12'3" floor joist to underside of the ridge beam, and is 25' wide x 38' long. That leaves a good 15' or more of useable space with the side walls at about 4' high. I asked IMSI if this product can create spaces like this and was told yes, so I downloaded the 15 day trial version.
I am not having any success in creating this space, and am not sure if it is me or if the product just will not do this. I need to see the room first as a 25' x 38' long space with a 12'3" sloped ceiling that extends all the way to the floor. THEN I can add the short walls and closet spaces, etc in the useable space. The finished room will use the roofline for the ceiling.
So, is it me or is it the product?

Mmm - V5 is a long time ago - many things have chaged since then!
I take it from your description that the roof extends down to the floor (or top of the ground floor walls) but you will have 4' walls in from the edge and will use the triangluar space behind for storage. (?)
If this is correct, then you need two locations, obviously, Ground floor and Second floor. Go to Building Locations (Settings menu) and set the Wall Height on the Second Floor to 1 inch or less (this is where the roof will sit) and set the ceiling height the same, although you could just use the underside of the roof as the ceiling.
Go to the Properties of the wall you plan to use and make sure it is set to AutoExtend on the 'Top and Bottom' tab. Even though the walls will be only 1" high they will still accept walls and windows because the walls will stretch to reach the roof.
Draw your Ground Floor walls (I asume you have done that) then switch to the Second Floor and draw those walls, tracing the ground gloor walls. With ObjectSnap 0N (Status bar lower right) the Second Floor walls should snap to the Ground Floor corners.
While still on the Second Floor choose a roof and set the pitch to whatever you want it to be. Click inside the Second floor walls. The roof will appear and sit on your mini wall. Any walls you draw in from the edge of the roof will extend to the roof and hence will be 4' high if you place them in the correct postion depending on the pitch of the roof. Incidentally, you could do an attic the same way in V5.
As an alternative to drawing the mini walls, you could just draw the roof "by Picking Points" (not available in V5!) and just draw the interior walls of the attic. The Second Floor location must still be set to 1" though, so the roof goes right down to the floor.
