I'm back. Why is it that I can't get the two gable roofs to connect without strange things happening. I continue to had problems
creating roofs. It seem to me that this roof should be easy. What is it that I'm not doing correctly.
see attached . . . like that?
I removed both roofs, made 1 new roof by picking points all around, set 2 ends as gables. Gable side over door I had to break the roof at the corner next to the door so small hip roof remained before rest made as gable
adjust edges/overhangs as needed
adjust walls to extend to roof as needed (sometimes setting is OK but not working correctly; change to level wall, then back to extend to roof and it will recalc and be correct.
I'll send you the .bld file but it is a newer version than yours and you can't open it???
(I removed concrete drive to separate visuals but that would not make any roof difference)
Much better than I got but I'm trying to get it like the attached file. See attached. I couldn't use your file at all.
TFP should have a way to save a file to an earlier version.
Have you tried using a separate location for one of the roof areas?
Are the walls on the right and left sections of the building both supposed to be the same height? I suspect one at least must be a different height.
Your model is showing 8' walls all around but the right hand section is wider than the left so, with the same pitch, the right hand roof will be higher than the left so would not work as per your drawing. If you lower the Support Height (if effect a lower wall) on one or more of these sides you can get the top of the roof to be the same height.

The latest version of Envisioneer can save as the previous version so TFP
MAY inhereit this in its next version. Time will tell.

What you show is a very unusual construction, hard to build, more costly for a builder/roofer . . . for the hip roof next to the door
Because where the overhang has a corner, by the door, the roof has to transition the slope or make weird overhang/fascia.
Try to sketch it out or 3D build it with blocks and planes and you will see the problems.
It can be done; just not conventional and will look odd as well to most people . . . unless perhaps you make another roof area over the porch.
You can also play with the roof slopes to make peaks/valleys where you want them other than adjusting wall heights.

I tried a separate location and the lower wall did some strange things, became transparent in some areas. TFP kept crashing / not responding. Oh,
I believe that I tried to create the entire roof on a new location.

They appear to be the same height all around the building.

I believe this section on the house was an additional but, everything appears to be the same height.

I would possibly upgrade to the latest version of TFP but, until I get past or a better understanding of the creating a roof I think I better stay on my current version.
I continue to have what I believe as simple roofing problems.

See the attached jpg.
The place is existing and with the photos it makes it easierto see what you are trying to replicate.
There may be other ways to do this but I found it easiest to use a separate location:
In the image I have deleted your right hand roof and drawn a new one on a separate location (differernt texture so obvious).
The roof is drawn the same width as the left hand one so the ridge height is the same. This will be short a bit at the front.
(in your photo that front wall to the left of the door appear to be lower to me)
Right click Break the front edge and then right click and choose Move Edge - ADJUST SUPPORT HEIGHT
Move one edge forward and the other back. (Makes one edge lower and the other higher)
Select the new edge that is created and set it to Gable.
Reduce or extend Overhangs if necessary.
If you need to move any of these front edges EVEN SLIGHTLY, remember to use the right click Move Edge - Adjust Support Height (dont just drag it or it will default to Maintain Support Height and you will lose it).
Hope that helps.
Jack's video's by the way are excellent to get the hang of using the roof tool.

I think Allan has the solution , , , key is that there is NO roof overhang on the short wall next to the door and that short wall section has a gable end not a hip roof that was shown on your 2D view of desired roof outline. And, as I suggested, there is a separate small roof over the door.
Keep at it, you are almost there.
I don't remember (could be wrong?) that ver. 16 of TFP has any new features or bug fixes for roofs; so your ver. should be able to get it done OK. Unless a ver. 16 purchase includes a free update to ver. 17, I'd wait until ver. 17 is released; likely soon, but unknown.
