Title: maybe the roof is too heavy?

it juts into the room - at least i assume that is what it is!
i tried chaging the 96 number in supports - it did not move it

In View Filter/ turn the roof off. That will tell you if in fact that is what it is.

Looks like a soffit to me but triangulated, which leads me to believe there is an error in construction the roof.

yes it is the roof.
i have normal 8 ft ceilings and did the roof with picking points
but somehow a rogue bit of roof snuck in - gone now

the house has 8 foot ceilings except the foyer which is 12 foot.
suggestions on what to do about  - i assume the main roof intruding into the 12 foot area and adjacent 8 foot hall
