Playing with the ciurrent TFP eval version, I cannot see an easy way to set up the terrain based on measured elevation data - eg a bunch of (x,y,z)
coordinates with (say) spline type interpolation between the points.
Is there a way?

Hi Tim,
No there isn't - yet! I say 'yet' because the latest version of Envisioneer (parent program) now has this capability in its most recent release and a new version of TFP usually follows not too long after. That has not happened yet and we still do not know if that capability will be included but generally TFP does get the vast majority of the 3D capabilities of Envisioneer. We will have to wait and see on that one.
Option 1: The best method at the moment to do what you want is to use the Plateau tool, set the height to the contour line increments on your survey and 'trace' that (assuming you have a plan with the contour lines marked). When you trace take the countour lines right off the terrain and back on again so that each coutour is continuous. The 'plateaus' (contours) build up on themselves. This will get very close to what you want.

Option 2: Wait for V17 to see if the new functionality is there. Whatever you do in V16 can be opened in later versions.

Happens I have a garden with a 2+m variation in 2 directions and numerous local variations (banks, lumps etc).
Measuring is easy enough with a self levelling laser line at dusk and a height stick.
I can see the plateau feature working - I did not realise you could "bend" it to fit contours.

Remember you can enter a negative height too - to make a hollow for example.
