I did a search on garage, and could not find anything that appeared to help.... though I find it hard to believe I am the first to ask this. My apologies if I
TFP3D H&L Pro v14.00.C.624
I am trying to create an attached garage. I have been able to create a basement foundation, and copy it to the 1st and 2nd story, but I don't know where or how I can add a garage.
I also started a project with a garage with the wizard, but I can't seem to modify the foundation and garage how I would like it.
The garage is a 3 car garage that sticks out from the front of the house by about 4 feet with the stall closest to the house a shorter "car depth" stall that is stopped by mudroom, and the other two are extra deep.
On a side question ( I know I have a OLD version) but are there any addins, or something for kitchen appliances, or a way to modify them? There do not appear to be any 36" ranges / cooktops etc, even though there is a 36" and 42" range hood.
T.I.A.
An attached garage is simply another room on a house and adding garage doors, windows etc. There is no "garage" object to use.
Using wizard to make house and garage should be fine and you can modify as you please.
Why would you copy the foundation to another floor location? You only need one foundation and have floor(s) above it.
What do you want to do with garage after you use the wizard? Make garage a different size?; drag/move walls; add windows/doors etc. just like you would do on a house....a garge is no different than the rest of TP house stuff.
Hi Pkquat,
As Doug said, a garage is just walls with a garage door or two. What problem were you having with it?

If the appliances are not the size you want, just change them. Right click on the appliance and choose Properties. You can change all the dimensions, Appearance etc for almost every object in TFP, to suit what you want.
You can also right click in the Catalogue, choose Add Element and you can create your own appliances (Ranges, cooktops, wall ovens, fridges, dishwashers, washing machines etc)

TY for the replies. I was finally able to move modify stuff from the wizard plan. It took me a little bit to understand how to modify the walls and get the snaps to properly take effect. And great to know there are more options with a right click. I hadn't gotten to placing any yet. I wasn't sure if 3D appliances were a recent not so robust addition to the program with the version I had, or to was a bit of a hook to buy more appliance packs, or there were user created ones (with some other program) etc.
The wizard plans created a foundation for the house and the garage. I wasn't sure if there was some way to identify the area as a garage vs basement. Usually the ground floor is a foot or two above the garage. I wasn't sure if there was a way to define the level it is at. I am still not sure if the garage is at the proper level. The garage doors appear to end above the terrain similar to the front door.
(I just figured out with the right click, the garage wizard foundation is only a few inches tall / deep. I think it is starting to make more sense how things are set up.)
As for the foundation copy, there is an option to copy one level to the next. Since the ground and 2nd floor exterior walls will have the same shape as the foundation this saves me time in drawing them.
I am used to mechanical design, CAD, and engineering. The architectural stuff is new to me, but I am starting to get the hang of the program.
Thank you again for the help. Getting over the 1st hurdle is the toughest.
Sounds like you are well on your way. TFP is fairly easy once you know how the s/w works.
You can search this forum for tips and solutions; but if you don't find an answer someone here can probably help.
Often best to provide both words and a picture if possible.
Good luck; you will have fun and a few frustrations; but getting a problem solved is rewarding too.

All the vertical levels are all controlled in Settings/ Building Locations. What you should do, if your garage (or any section of a building) is at a lower level or if the walls are lower and the roof will sit lower, is to put that part of the building on a separate location by adding a new location or changing the settings of one of the existing ones - eg the Foundaton location.
If you still wanted to do that, then set up the Garage Location, change the Floor level to ground or terrain level (zero), then Shift/select all the garage walls and other garage objects and Duplicate them to the new location. After the duplication you must then delete the originals or you will have both. (V16 prompts if you want to delete or retain the original).
If you do not want to do that, and all the other levels (walls / roof etc seem Ok) then you can just lower the door and floor (right click Elevate)

Again thank you for the help. It is making more sense. I would recommend the Wizard create a "Garage" level since most "Ground Floors" are above Terrain / Garage level. A "Split Level" or "Multi Level" would be a good example to include. I also hope the latest version has more descriptive names for the samples.
Are there any "upgrade" options from v14?
I hope I am not going too much off topic, but is it possible to "copy" things such as an interior from one project to another? I am thinking about just creating a kitchen (and a few other rooms) to work on the layout and size. Once it is done, it would be great to copy it to my final design.

You will find an update for V14 on this page http://www.imsidesign.com/Support/Overview/TurboFLOORPLANSupport/TurboFloorPlanUpdates/tabid/2292/Default.aspx (http://www.imsidesign.com/Support/Overview/TurboFLOORPLANSupport/TurboFloorPlanUpdates/tabid/2292/Default.aspx) but it is really only a 'bug fix' that you may already have depending on when you purchased it. Check the full version number - if it ends with 662, then you have the latest. You can of course upgrade by purchasing V16 or you may want to wait for V17, although there is no release date for this as yet.

No, you cannot copy between projects. You can export the whole thing and import it again into another project but it is then not editable. You can only change the total size of the whole thing and the textures.
If you just want to practise with the kitchen etc, you could do it all on a different Location and then just copy it to your model (right click Duplicate to Location), deleting the practise one.
