Title: Putting created member into the catalogue
Post by: AdrianW on December 04, 2012, 02:42:49 AM
Hi all,

Need some help here, I have read other posts which explain the process but I cannot seem to do it....So could you please explain again slowly.

I have created a bamboo pole in one TFP project. (the pole was drawn in Turbocad, imported and given a texture which I "borrowed" off the net)  It is perfect in texture and appearance.. I want to now save it in the Catalogue so I can pick it up in other projects....Hope that makes sense. How do I do it????

I have tried to emulate the pole in other projects but cant!!!!!!

thanks in advance

Hi Adrian,

Go to File/ Cataloges / Save object to Catalogue.(can be hard to find again)

Better still, go to the part of the cataloge where you would like to save it (eg Exterior Accessories) right click, select Add Element and browse to your Bamboo file. This way it will be where you put it!

I can't help being curious why you used TC to make a Bamboo pole. Isn't it just a cylinder - or have you made the ridges around it too?

Thanks Allan I will give it a go... Ahh curiosity killed the cat.  At that stage I had not found the cylinder, I actually just stumbled on it today. But I just want to know the system as much as I can, just a learning curve... never to old to learn new things.

Cheers

Hi Adrian,

Another one you may not know about and may like to play with:

From the Layout toolbar choose the Line tool and draw a line.
Right click it and choose Convert to Members.
Choose a member or right click to Add a new one.
With Add you can select any of the profiles (eg round for bamboo) or even create your own.
This Member is stretchable like a wall and can be made attach to a roof or other slope by right clicking and choosing Match to Plane. If you draw it in an anticlockwise it will also mitre the corners.

Very useful.

Using 'HELP' is another good way.

Just type in catalog.  There are as number of topics.
