Hello smart people. I have an issue where I am trying to use the materials paint brush to place flooring in each individual room. I have done this successfully throughout the layout (in 2D designers view), with one exception. In the master bedroom and the master bathroom, the flooring seems to be "locked together" i.e. I cant have different flooring materials in one vs. the other, if I change floor material in the master bath by clicking on that floor, for example, the master bedroom floor material changes too. I don't understand this since I have legitimate walls completely around the perimeter of the master bath... which should, i presume define it as its own room and floor space. Any ideas??? I like carpet in my master bedroom, but dont want carpet in the master bath!!! Thanks ahead of time!!
Floors can be inserted automatically, by room, by perimeter or by picking the points (so that the floor can extend outside the building for example). By default it usually does an automatic floor through the whole building which will be the same surface throughout. In your case there are two possibilities that come to mind:
1. You have a 'broken' wall (it looks continuous but isn't). When you select it, there should be a red dot at one end, a blue one in the middle and a green one at the other end. If this does highlight not extend across the full wall (but you have to click twice on the wall to highlight the whole length) then there is a break. In this case delete one of the sections and drag the other along to fill the wall.
2. The second possibility is that the floor is part of the original automatic one and that you have inserted new ones into the other rooms over the top of the automatic one. Unfortunately TFP does not prompt you if you are inserting multiple floors in a room, so this can easily happen. Save the project (just in case) then delete the 'joined' floor (in 3D view) and insert a new floor into each of the rooms (Insert/Floors/Floor By Room). You should then be able to treat each independently.
